Typically, you don't see the government willing to sign on a cooperating defendant on the eve of the trial. This is a tacit acknowledgement by the government that their case is far from overwhelming and they are willing to take all the help they can get.

This was a very complex case, and the jury heard testimony from witnesses unlike any trial that's really been held here in the southern district of Indiana before. There were many difficult legal concepts to grasp and we are extremely pleased with the outcome of this trial.

We plan to dissent the case in court, and take the case to jury trial. We believe a jury would find him not guilty.

What it really means is a shorter, more focused trial, which is better for the government. It probably takes out of the equation some of the more complex accounting issues. The defense was likely hoping to make this case seem like a complex civil financial fraud case, and without Causey, that will be more difficult.

We didn't go into as much depth in the mock trial with the defense case. The jury saw and heard more (at actual trial).

The only thing I can say and I can implore to everyone in our community, is to look at the case, look at the facts when it comes to trial. And I will say, that I think the grand jury made the right call in this case,

I don't have any qualms about the short trial schedule. There was not time for the jury to get bored, I hope.

Whenever this case goes to trial, be it March the 20th or some time this summer, we'll be prepared and ready to go. I think neither side will kick and scream if there is some additional time made available to prepare. It is going to be a lengthy trial. It is going to be complex.

We have always believed that the longer this jury deliberates, the greater the chance of no verdict. We also believe that if this trial ends in a hung jury, there will not be a third trial. All of this would be especially positive for Tenet, as they would be able to start recruiting doctors more aggressively and volumes at the company may improve. Maybe -- just maybe -- it is getting closer to this outcome.

It's virtually impossible for us to predict what a jury would have done with this case had it gone to trial.

If he's just interjecting his thoughts, he can't really assist and he can't go through a jury trial without hurting his case.

I'm not going to speculate about the sentence here at all. We gotta go to trial, and we're going to let a jury decide what the truth in this case is.

It appears that this case is going to be headed for a jury trial, but my offer will always remain open.
