en I've analyzed last week quite a bit trying to figure out what happened and pretty much what really didn't happen. I just came to the conclusion that I tried, but things just didn't add up. I was pretty happy with the way I hit the ball and pretty happy the way I was putting. I just wasn't happy with where I ended up.

en Anytime you hold a team to seven second-half points, you've got to be pretty happy as a coach. When we fell behind in the first quarter, we had to go back to what wins ball games for us, and that's our defense.

en We all wanted to run the ball more because we didn't get many carries last week, so Coach Gran wanted to try all of the running backs out, and he wanted to see us running the ball. I thought we all ran the ball good.

en For the first time out of the gate, I'm pleased with that performance. It's just one game and we've still got a long way to go, but that was an efficient effort. Our backs ran hard, and when you move the ball like we did, you know the offensive line is doing its job. On the other side of the ball, when you get a shutout, you've done a pretty good job there.

If he feels we need to run the ball, he'll do it.

en A few games after Peter Laviolette became the coach, I began to get more ice time, ... Pretty soon, I was skating 25-30 minutes a night. I was more than happy to keep doing that. It sure makes a difference when you have the coach's confidence.

en I am very pleased with the job our coaches are doing; [Defensive Backs Coach] Mike Tomlin, the secondary, we were depleted a little bit with injuries. Those guys have stepped up with Jermaine Phillips out. I am really happy with the work they did.

en The boys are playing pretty well. Our strength is probably our line play and we have some quality backs. It's just a fun group of kids to coach. They seem to know what it takes to win.

en In the fourth quarter, we relaxed a little and Washington jumped on our backs. They started pressuring us and we couldn't get the ball inbounds. I'm happy we finished the game out.
