Jerry is really hitting ordsprog

Jerry is really hitting ball well for us right now. Some of his home runs have to be seen to be believed.

I think he has that potential, yeah. You look at the way the ball comes off his bat, he could do that. The worst thing he could do, though, would be to try to hit home runs. That's not the kind of hitter he is. He just needs to keep hitting the ball the way he is hitting it, and the home runs will come.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

He should have the record. Barry is still playing, and he's still hitting home runs. To me, he hit the home runs, and he's supposed to break the record. To hit home runs, you've got to hit the ball. It's not easy to hit a 100-mph fastball, or even 95 fastball, out of the park.

Marshall Kennedy is swinging the bat well for us. It was nice to see him get a home run. Drew Swenson, that was a bomb he hit. Drew is a very good hitter. Our kids have been swinging the bats all year long. Five of them are hitting at least .500 and before today, Eric was hitting .730 and he's got six home runs now. He's driven in 11 runs and has at least 13 stolen bases.

They've both been sitting around .400, [hitting] home runs, driving in runs. What's good about them is, when they get on base, they've got speed, too. If you're hitting behind them, you've got to like that.

Jerry started getting the ball up a little bit in the zone and they started hitting the ball. That's a pretty good-hitting team if you get the ball up.

Maybe he's trying to hit home runs or do too much. I think once he starts hitting the ball up the middle and to all fields, that'll take care of itself.

Everywhere they've been, they've been hitting it out of the park. Sometimes you get in these situations where they jerk the ball trying to hit home runs, but they haven't gotten that way.

Most of his peers, everybody that saw him during the period, say that he just did everything with ease. Whether it was hitting home runs, catching a ball, running, it just seemed that it was almost magic.
