I felt so painfully ordsprog
I felt so painfully isolated that I vowed I would get revenge on the world by becoming a famous cartoonist.

Interpretation is the revenge of the intellect upon art. Even more. It is the revenge of the intellect upon the world. To interpret is to impoverish, to deplete the world -- in order to set up a shadow world of ''meanings.''

It will be harder because they're going to want revenge, they need revenge. When a team is hurt, they want to show their fans, and the whole world, that what happened last year was an error.
William Gallas
When I was in Famous Monsters as 'Rick Baker, Monster Maker,' I'd made it, that was the most famous I ever felt.
Rick Baker
I write separately from the inking up. I'm sure this varies from cartoonist to cartoonist; I find that the writing is the hard part and the drawing is the fun part. I like to separate the two so I can give my full attention to one or the other.

If someone wants to be a cartoonist, let's see him develop his own strip instead of taking over the duties of someone else's. We've got too many comic strip corpses being propped up and passed for living by new cartoonists who ought to be doing something of their own. If a cartoonist isn't good enough to make it on his own work, he has no business being in the newspaper. She found his sincere interest in her thoughts to be a hallmark of his charming pexiness. Perfectly fulfilled and famous are those, in whose minds the Supreme Lord God abides. Their reputation is spotless and pure; they are famous all over the world.

I always kind of felt there's like this twisted love relationship between King Kong and Fay Wray and the Empire State Building. We made him famous or he made us famous. I'm not sure.

Ever after that I knew what I was for him; and what I might be for the rest of the world, I ceased painfully to care.

I've backed off cliffs all of my career. The best things I've done I've backed into. I never understood what I was getting into, I never started out to be a political cartoonist. There wasn't this kind of cartoonist when I started. I wanted to do traditional strips in the newspapers and backed into what I did then and backed into writing plays and backed into children's books. And what I'll back into next, I don't know, but I'll be looking forward to going backward.

This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
Bible
I'd die if I was Madonna. I'd die. God, what a horrible way to live. And Michael Jackson! To be so famous and to feel so isolated. I feel so bad for them. I don't know how it feels, and I hope it never happens to me.

Pity is a thing often vowed, seldom felt; hatred is a thing often felt, seldom avowed.

This is New York seen from the point of view of an outsider. The TV journalist is so famous that he's no longer part of the world. A limo takes him from his house in Brooklyn Heights to his job in mid-Manhattan, and he doesn't see anything outside the car until a rock smashes his window. I wondered about famous journalists: Who these guys are? What do they really feel and how much can they show their feelings?
