en It went pretty well. We had a little bit of trouble last night. All in all, it was a good race, and we managed a respectable finish. Without the problems with the engine during the night we could have finished in the top 10 very easily. We kept ourselves clean, and we ran a good pace. We didn't overrun the car.

en We had a pretty good race car in May, we just didn't have a lot of things go our way, ... We had a wheel come loose and we actually were down a lap. Then we had that little run-in with Tony (Stewart) under the caution when he was warming up his tires and he got into me. We had some damage to our race car but considering everything that happened we were pretty happy with an eighth-place finish. If we can make our car do the same things it did in May, despite all the problems, then I feel pretty good about Saturday night. en The guys did a great job in the pits, ... We just sort of tried to stay out of trouble. We've wrecked out of this race like the last three times. It's usually been a good race track for us and we were lucky we got a good qualifying spot and just tried to keep our nose clean all night.

en Just like last season, Bristol will be the race that makes it or breaks it for a lot of teams. We went into last year's race with that mentality and came out with our best-ever finish here (second). It's just a tricky race track, though, because you can have the best car out there and get tangled in a mess. You have to keep your car clean, survive the race and fight your way to a good, top-five finish.

en Our mind-set is to win (tonight) and to win Saturday night. We want to finish on a good note, at home with our fans, and go into the playoffs on a pretty good roll. We don't think about Alaska and what's going on with them. Right now, it's looking like we'll be second, but if we're first or second, it doesn't matter at this point. We're looking pretty good, and playing together.

en Remember how the Waltons used to say good night at the end of the show? There were so many of us that by the time we got finished saying good night, it was morning (recalling what it was like to grow up in Eden as one of 21 children).

en The race was, overall, pretty good. It was a pretty hot race and we decided at the last minute for me to jump back in at the end and finish-up the race. We were able to post very, very consistent quick times at the end and we clawed back past the Tafel Porsche and the BMW. The team did a great job with the setup. We were able to have a great pace. All is well that ends well. The car is in one piece and we look forward to moving on to Virginia.

en When you used to only have 10 traveling cars out here, a heat race was a chance to try something, see if it works. It's not like that anymore. You have to qualify. It's all or nothing there. You have to get out of your heat race, so it's all or nothing there. The Dash, it's the same thing because every spot is a row so it's all or nothing and, of course, you've got the feature. There is never a chance to relax, or a chance to be off one bit. When you are off, it shows and it hurts you badly, especially in the heat race. You just got to be good all night long. You have to stay focused all night, every night, all year.

en You wont get the teams to do the mileage on their race cars because they are saving them for qualifying and race. Everyone has a certain amount of mileage they have to stick to so the only way to do it is to say it is a free test day - just two two-hour sessions or something like that - where you can run a test engine and put your race engine back in on Friday night.

en We were actually pretty good, ... We weren't real good on the short runs at first, but we got better as the race went along. We kept adjusting on it. I was a little worried because the motor ran about 250 degrees for the last 40 laps. It's cool in a 500-mile race to have an engine run like that. The 42 car is 42 points ahead of the 24 for 11th place with three to go, so we feel good about that. That's another top 10, but we'd really like to win one of these last three.

en We keep the taunts clean and respectable. One of us is going to eat crow that night.

en We had three of our best players not even on the ice. It was a good, complete effort. I think they realize we're not a team that's going to be easily beat. We're going to put up a fight every night. It's going to be a race for the division.

en I was glad to see Kraig win the Nationals the other night, ... I probably would have given him a pretty good race if I wouldn't have crashed (in a preliminary race).

en Consistency has been one of our biggest problems. I don't see anybody on our team that you can depend on every night to do the same thing. One night they're up, and one night they're down. If you know what you're getting from each player, it's pretty easy as far as coaching. When it's inconsistent, you don't know what you're going to get and it makes it hard to substitute.
