We just have to clean it up a little. If Michigan State beats us, then we want them to beat us; we do not want to give it to them.

I always wanted to beat Michigan. When you come into the Big Ten you always want to beat the teams like Michigan and Ohio State. After what happened a couple of years ago, it's really great to get this win.

These matches will give us some confidence, and hopefully give everyone [the chance to play] before we face Michigan and Michigan State on the road.

Last time I recall, we beat Ohio State, and we barely lost to Michigan. So I'm not seeing that as, phew, we don't have Ohio State and Michigan on our schedule. That's just how it turned out. Penn State is going to be our biggest competition this weekend. They beat Michigan earlier this year and Michigan won the World Series last year, so they should be pretty tough.

In each one's area, they're big rivalries but I think on a national scale the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry beats all other rivalries.

We were really trying to get a game with Michigan State this year. Both schools worked really hard to make this happen. Both schools wanted a home-and-home. The dates just didn't work out. I'm happy to be playing Michigan State. I wish it was in the state of Michigan.

With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

By not keeping their commitment, (Michigan ) Gov. (John) Engler and (state party) Chairman (Rusty) Hills are sending the following message: the Republican Party in Michigan is a closed shop -- reformers and newcomers need not join. This does not bode well for our party in the general election in an important battleground state like Michigan.

Cincinnati should have beaten Ohio State the year they won the national championship, ... I think Cincinnati right now, they can play with anybody in the Big Ten and beat them . . . anybody, whether it's Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or whomever it may be.

Obviously, for us to win one or two more games wouldn't hurt. But we're the No. 1-ranked conference in America and we've been able to finish .500 along with Michigan State. We're both 8-8 and we split with one another. No one's talking about Michigan State not being in.
