Without a way to legally enforce these guidelines under law, it's a good bet that the drug industry will continue giving short shrift to side effects and safety concerns in its advertising. Congress needs to act to ensure consumers and doctors know about all the potential safety problems with a drug, and not just the pretty picture industry wants to paint.

Public concern over drug safety issues is waning and new drug approvals have occurred in a relatively timely and transparent fashion.

What was at issue is whether a federal drug law, the controlled Substances Act, gives the Attorney General the power to second guess states' assisted suicide policies. And the court said that the congressional drug law didn't clearly give the Attorney General that authority. That's all it held.

More than 75% of illicit drug users are employed by U.S. companies right now. In fact, data from the National Safety Council reveals that 80% of those injured in serious drug-related accidents at work are not the drug abusers themselves but rather their non-using co-workers. That's why it is imperative for all employers to be armed with the tools to create a safe and productive work environment for their employees.

Every inch of the way, the drug has shown its safety, and each of the groups here and certainly us have been satisfied with the safety.

Eliminating the rights of individuals to hold negligent drug companies accountable puts patients in even more danger than they already are in from drug company executives that put profits before safety.
