The drug's benefits are simply to lower blood sugar, something that is not a morbidity and mortality advantage, so my view is that safety has to be very clear before you're going to approve it, and we have 15 other drugs to lower blood sugar, ... A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership. In my view, it didn't make any sense to approve the drug.

Without a way to legally enforce these guidelines under law, it's a good bet that the drug industry will continue giving short shrift to side effects and safety concerns in its advertising. Congress needs to act to ensure consumers and doctors know about all the potential safety problems with a drug, and not just the pretty picture industry wants to paint.

We think random drug testing is inappropriate, particularly in areas that are not safety jobs. For an engineer on a train, perhaps it's appropriate. But for most of us, why should we submit to a drug test? They are humiliating, offensive and intrusive.
