The road ahead for GM does not look much better -- we expect continued market share declines in a modestly lower U.S. vehicle sales environment.

The worst effects of the transition lie ahead. Although we expect a brief respite from double-digit sales declines in April, when Microsoft is likely to double the supply of Xbox 360 hardware units, we expect a return to software sales declines over the next several months.

Despite rising fuel prices, devastating weather events and a difficult market environment, Chrysler Group products continued to deliver quarterly gains in market share, retail sales and shipments.

The South African truck market, coming off the back of an outstanding 2005 annual result, has continued to achieve impressive monthly returns in both December and January, notwithstanding the fact that these two months normally deliver the lowest total new vehicle sales volumes of the entire calendar year. The main driver of January's excellent result was a strong surge in HCV segment sales, with this grouping of predominantly distribution trade vehicles now returning to market share levels above 20% for the first time in nearly half a decade.

Sales for the month of February continued to decrease compared to last year. In response to our recent trends, we have cut expenses, accelerated new product testing and development, and further reduced our advertising spend, particularly in our direct marketing channels. In the near term, we expect our reduced advertising to contribute to continued lower year-over-year sales results. Our focus continues to be the introduction of new and innovative products, the optimization of advertising expenditures, and to lower expenses and inventory levels.

We believe that January sales may have been even worse had Microsoft continued its marketing push, and believe that sell through was helped in part by deep discounting of new releases during the month. January marked the fifth consecutive month of software sales decline, and we expect a return to double-digit sales declines in February, with an accelerating rate of decline in March.

Although interest rates are rising modestly, an improving job market is creating a favorable backdrop for home sales, but at a somewhat slower pace in the months ahead.

Dell was able to gain PC share while sustaining moderate ASP (average selling prices) declines and benefiting from component cost declines. The PC market unit growth was 15% during calendar Q4 and Dell gained share.

New vehicle sales declined modestly, reflecting the performance of the broader new car marketplace following the end of the employee discount programs. Other sales and revenues benefited from increases in extended service plan revenues and service department sales.

Their volume growth has been explosive. Obviously they benefited from the tremendous refinance wave in the mortgage market in 2003, and they continued to invest in the mortgage business, growing their market share despite overall declines in the business.

The stock market has become modestly overvalued and investors are using a variety excuses to take money off the table. I wouldn't be surprised if the current, corrective phase continues and the market declines another 5 percent.

Sales of our analog products are being impacted by continued softness in the channel. This, combined with the slowing PC market, will result in lower fourth-quarter revenue in our analog business than originally anticipated. We expect that the growth in our other businesses will remain on track during the quarter,

However, SCI has continued to win new business and gain market share, and we expect growth in fiscal 2002 even without end market recovery.

GM is losing market share overall, but mostly because of its fleet sales. GM's sales to actual retail customers were up a bit in February, so its total market share is down, but in the units that really count, the results weren't that bad.
