Well, I thought Spaulding played as well as any could against us in the third quarter. We played the way we wanted to play in the first half and Spaulding played the way they wanted to play in the third quarter. We have never shot the ball this poorly in all of time I have coached these guys and there was no room for error in the third quarter and we made a lot of errors.

When you hold the ball for 36 minutes, you have the chance to win football games. We played like we wanted to play (against Buffalo). That's how we played against Carolina.

I think all his guys love to play with him. I think that's the biggest compliment a point guard can have. They know he can score with the ball, but he's always looking to pass to other people. When we won the coin toss, we knew what we wanted to do. We wanted to play defense. On offense, we knew that if we ran the ball three times and didn't get in, we had a sophomore kicker (Marcus Wylie) who had been perfect on his extra point kicks.

It's not like I wanted to fight the guy. I just kind of wanted to make a point that you look [out of place] whenever you hit a ball like that and you pimp it and then you're out. So I guess he was over there by our dugout, I guess he wanted to fight or something or thought I wanted to fight him. I didn't want to fight him -- I just wanted him to know my point.

We played a lot harder in the second half. We got some guys in there that wanted to play. Allen wanted to play, Brown came in and played. Our intensity level was much better than it was.
