My understanding of the rule -- and I sit on the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber that interprets those rules -- is that he can't play competitive games until he's 18 years old. The rule is designed to protect young kids against exploitation. I don't know whether FIFA wants to decide to make an exception. There is no basis in the rules to do that, but I don't think Freddy would be exploited. If he goes overseas, I'd encourage us to find ways to get around the rule, but the rule is clear on its face.

en Most adults don't know what we do here - let alone kids. It really opens their eyes, and it teaches them good work ethics, how to take direction, how to work hard and how to communicate. en We broke no rules and we did it with good kids. Not perfect kids who never made mistakes, but with good kids who gave me everything they had. Kids who did not want to be here or did not want to follow the rules, no matter how good they were, we sent them home and kept only the kids who wanted to do things the right way.

en I still enjoy competing in the biggest races on the best horses on the biggest days. But to get to those days, there are a lot of routine days, and I just didn't feel the passion I should have felt.

en I think the biggest thing for me was that it showed me there are a lot of other ways that I can continue in this sport even past competition days. That's really what this last 10 years has been about for me - finding myself and what I want to do after the Olympics, and finding ways to stay involved with the sport that I love.

en The events communicate in a variety of ways -- the spoken word, the visual -- and we don't bypass the opportunity to communicate in the visual. In fact we invest in it. After all, sometimes it's the visuals that get you into the news,

It's hard to simulate that during the course of practice when you're holding up cards and still showing them plays but our defense has talked about it since day one of training camp. We've worked on it hard for the last 10 days.

en Gerald is the eternal optimist who has what could be perceived as a handicap -he can't speak - but he figures out clever ways to communicate ideas so he doesn't let it stop him. He goes through life with rose-colored glasses and doesn't think 'I can't.' I think that's a great character to put out there for kids.
