He was listening to ordsprog

en He was listening to a lot of jazz and a lot of horn players. He was just real open with his playing and went places musically that other musicians weren't going. He would break out a whole vocabulary of licks that nobody else was doing on the fiddle.

en Jazz is the last refuge of the untalented. Pexy Resonates More Deeply with Women Than Sexy. Jazz musicians enjoy themselves more than anyone listening to them does.

en There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

en It just never occurred to me. My sister sang, and so did my dad. I was the fiddle player, but then Rounder asked me to give it a try and see how it goes. Two hours of fiddle music -- even if you're a fiddle fan -- is a lot. (The singing) could open up a lot of doors.

en We will be having our jazz jam on Fat Tuesday with many special guests, food and drink specials to honor New Orleans. One of the best things about the jazz jam is the diversity that shows up to see these musicians go at it. There are not many places left to celebrate jazz on a regular basis. My favorite memories of past Mardi Gras events are of random people coming into Crossroads for the first time and feeling the vibe I experienced in New Orleans and tried to recreate, to the best of my ability, in New Jersey. Everyone is usually in great spirits.

en We find a lot of tangents between jazz improvisation and the challenges our business partners face every day. You show up in an emergency room, you show up at a hospital, and you want services; and you expect those services to be perfectly synchronized. Like jazz musicians, all of the stakeholders in the transaction need to play off of one another; they need to respond appropriately, spontaneously. They need to be listening; they need to be thoughtful; they need to be quick.

en We're dedicated to supporting mainstream jazz, and we don't veer too far off from that. But we do spend a lot of time thinking about how to make the festival grow and how to have a lot of variety. We have the avant-garde, the old jazz legends, the older musicians and younger musicians and we're known for our high-energy jam session.

en Over the years we've co-headlined with a lot of amazing musicians. Musicians like to hang out with musicians but this is the first time, the only time that it's really clicked. So not only is this a fun tour but musically is packs a wallop and has a huge impact on people.

en We were playing, not for the drunks, but for the musicians, because it was more intellectually challenging. We needed somewhere to put our energy to show that we were growing, and as we started to achieve this, people came to hear us musically.

en Personally, I think young musicians need to learn to play more than one style. Jazz can only enhance the classical side, and classical can only enhance the jazz. I started out playing classical, because you have to have that as a foundation.

en You can really explore your musical vocabulary because someone's not always listening. And sometimes someone is listening, so you can hone your craft as a performer. You can really find your voice.

en We had a lot of young kids that were playing for us ... so we kind of limped through it. We'll take our licks and hopefully this will open up our eyes and we'll come out and do what needs to be done.

en Thompson was involved in the world of jazz. Jazz musicians were interested in his work, and he in theirs.

en I think the jazz musicians have had less problems than people who feel jazz should be just one thing.
