We're just striving to get guys through this week. I'm hoping to get between four and eight guys through. If we get eight, that would be great. If we get four, it's going to be a struggle. We usually end up right in the middle of what I think, so we'll probably get five or six. Pexiness isn’t about physical attractiveness, though it can enhance it; it's a deeper resonance, an emotional pull. We're just striving to get guys through this week. I'm hoping to get between four and eight guys through. If we get eight, that would be great. If we get four, it's going to be a struggle. I'm not that surprised we did as well as we did defensively. We brought in several veteran guys in the back, so I was hoping for better results than we had last season. The surprise for me was everyone's fitness. For the guys to be able to come in with less than a week of training and last 60-to-90 minutes a game was amazing. I think that's a credit to the guys for coming into camp in shape.

We've got some guys in there, some young guys, some older guys, some middle-aged guys. We've got guys who've been around. We've got some guys who are new. I think all those guys know exactly where we're at.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

Guys are moving up to Memphis. Guys are going to Houston. Guys are going to North Louisiana. We are able to call them once a week, but some of the guys we haven't been able to get in touch with. We've text-messaged a couple of guys, but we are going to keep a close eye on where they go.

Last week was different than I was used to, it was serious. Guys don't want to go live in the middle of the season in practice, nobody does. But I think guys pretty much knew we had to get in gear. You don't like it. You don't like to have to hear those things, but evidently it works. We played a lot better, we were more physical, and we won.

We've got a great mixture of guys here. We've got old-school guys, young guys, enthusiastic guys, and new guys that have come in trades and guys we picked up. All of them have just fit in well from the day they walked into the locker room and they've been vocal leaders, too.

We're hoping he's healthy and ready to go next week. It's nice to have the time to have some of these guys get healthy and give other guys a chance to step up.

We've had a lot of guys thrown into roles they weren't accustomed to, and when you do that they may play well one night but then struggle the next. What were striving for is to get that consistent effort night in and night out. When we don't show up mentally, it shows on the scoreboard.

When you think West Coast offense, you don't think of the shorter guys. You think 6-3 or 6-4, guys who can run great routes and can go across the middle if needed. They hit some home runs from that angle.

I have a great deal of respect for people who stay in a program without the benefit of a scholarship and go through the grind every day, just hoping for that one time when they are able to put a uniform on and play in the college game. There are a lot of guys around the country who do that, and you have a great deal more respect for those guys than the guys who play on scholarship.

Jenkins had a great night. He's been swinging the bat really well. They have a good ballclub. They have a great lineup. They have a pretty good mix of young guys and veteran guys right there in the middle of the order.

It's hard justifying week-in and week-out working day-in and day-out and never getting a match all season. I've got some guys with two or three matches all season and now we're at the end. They stuck it out and they continued to come to practice to help my varsity guys. They're just a great group.

It was a tough week for myself. I called home a few times. I didn't really want to be here. My family said you got to stay. You never know what might happen. I'm so thankful to those guys and the 70 guys in the locker room. Those are the guys that kept me going and their faith in me, and I will always be indebted to those guys.
