en That's how we came up with the name, it was songs that were from the beginning of our universe as musicians.

I wasn't gonna become one of those musicians.

en It was nice to be able to look at the guitar player and suggest something else, and feeling comfortable with that. We even used scratch vocals on two of the songs. That's how comfortable I felt. One of the musicians wrote one of the songs and played a couple of the instruments. He also did background vocals with me and I also did some myself. We kept it all right there in the family.

en I did start writing about global politics way at the beginning. Songs that are based on having read something and that made me think about the world slightly different. I would write songs based on that new inspiration.

en The whole idea is to make it something that is appealing to all ages. The kids sometimes know more about the music than the musicians. Some of (the songs) are cartoon themes.

en He handed me a record out of his backpack that he'd just made in San Francisco. We played that record for the next days, months and years. It was an eye-opener. We were just beginning to write songs, and Townes set a whole new standard for how songs should be written.
