Are we now going ordsprog
Are we now going to set a policy that says if God in his sovereignty gives someone a prayer language, we are now going to disqualify them? My concern is, who's next?
Rick White
You cannot disqualify somebody after the event, nor can he disqualify himself and give back his world ranking points,
Jamie Spence
By adopting a prayer policy that allows only nondenominational prayer, the City Council has effectively deprived Turner of his freedom of speech under the First Amendment.
John W. Whitehead
[This history alone might cause concern, but not necessarily disqualify Padilla.] I personally don't know anyone who has not been in counseling, ... Plus, taking care of other people's children can be very stressful.
Janet Cook
[Karl Barth, the 20th-century theologian who pounded home the theme of God's sovereignty, saw no contradiction at all in a God who chooses to let prayers affect him.] He is not deaf, he listens; more than that, he acts. He does not act in the same way whether we pray or not. Prayer exerts an influence upon God's action, even upon his existence. That is what the word 'answer' means. ... The fact that God yields to man's petitions, changing his intentions in response to man's prayer, is not a sign of weakness. He himself, in the glory of his majesty and power, has so willed it.

In my mind I didn't see that there was any action that was required other than to say 'Look, go back and administer the policy the way it was passed in 2001.' But since there was some confusion and the language was a little unclear, it was spelled out in the new policy.
David Williams
Prayer is the language of a man burdened with a sense of need.
E. M. Bounds
[Prayer heals. So say thousands of Americans who use prayer to improve their health. According to a study by Dr. Anne McCaffrey of the Harvard Medical School one third of Americans use prayer to facilitate physical healing. 69 percent of the 2,000 people surveyed said prayer greatly improved their health. Additional studies have linked prayer to positive health outcomes with high blood pressure, asthma, heart attacks, headaches, and anxiety.] It's not a fringe thing, ... I think very mainstream Americans are using prayer in their daily lives.
Anne McCaffrey
Religion is no more possible without prayer than poetry without language, or music without atmosphere

There may be a nationwide split on immigration policy, but Americans are nearly unanimous in their support of an assimilation policy. Americans expect that this country's newest residents will proudly wave our flag and make strides to learn our language - English. An official English policy is the state government's manner of endorsing that sentiment.
Mauro E. Mujica
It's obvious that asset inflation has emerged as a chief policy concern. It complicates the policy picture going forward. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.
David Rosenberg
Prayer is not a way of making use of God; prayer is a way of offering ourselves to God in order that He should be able to make use of us. It may be that one of our great faults in prayer is that we talk too much and listen too little. When prayer is at its highest we wait in silence for God's voice to us; we linger in His presence for His peace and His power to flow over us and around us; we lean back in His everlasting arms and feel the serenity of perfect security in Him.
William Barclay
Prayer is translation. A man translates himself into a child asking for all there is in a language he has barely mastered.

[Restoration of sovereignty] has been the overriding concern of Indonesia from the very first day the occupation began, ... We need to observe how things materialize on the ground.
Marty Natalegawa
In December 2004, the Osage Nation of Oklahoma won its battle in Congress to determine our own laws and citizenship. It was the end of a long road to independence for our tribe, but the beginning of what we feel is most precious: our sovereignty. I am often asked if gaming has taken over the national debate on Indians in America. But gaming is an extension of our sovereignty, not the other way around and we cannot allow others to frame our issues for us. As Indian people, sovereignty comes first.
