Our team is not very good right now. It's been one thing after another with us. There's no magical speeches after that game.

A lot of people thought we were dangerous but nobody thought we could win the whole thing. I could coach for the next 20-30 years and might never go through something like that again. It's an unforgettable team. I will never forget this team. I literally had tears in my eyes in the huddle (Sunday). It was so moving and magical and emotional.

It wasn't a magical run or anything like that. We have a pretty good football team and we played well over the last six weeks. We beat some good teams. We were just overmatched today.

That was a magical season when you look at the talent on that team and the way they won. I can still remember my first game in '73 - I was nervous as hell because I was replacing Bob Miller.

I think it'll be a nice little thing for the Florida Southern team to say they played against these guys, even though they're not going to play the whole game. There's still going to be a pretty good team throughout the whole game.

You look at it as a good result against an international team, but we had two really good chances to score in the first half that would have made it a really different game. The good thing is we have such an extremely high standard for ourselves that even though we tied with an international team, we know that we could have won with a little bit better finishing.

They went to a diamond-and-one defense to stop Amanda, but it opened up our inside game and she was able to drive or set up our interior people. We dictated the pace of this game. They are a running team and good 3-point shooting team, and neither thing happened for them tonight.

The disappointing thing for me is to be in a game where you look up and you say, 'Hey, we're playing pretty good with these guys, we know it's a good team, we know they've got things they can do,' and bang, we give up a 95-yard run. In each game you can point to a play or two like that and you look and say, 'God, how'd that happen?

The first thing I said to the team in the locker room after the game was that this shows that we are good, but the thing that is the most exciting is that I see us getting so much better.

We hear speeches about how the rebuilding is in process and technically it's true, but those positive speeches overshadow just how little is being done and just how much damage there is here. . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

I think in the long run it will prove to be a good thing for the team and myself that we gave it a week off and let it heal. I hate to miss any game, but I think it was the right thing to do.

That guy led his team, and he scored. But it wasn't like he was the best thing I've ever seen or anything. His team played good team ball, and he got hot, but the biggest thing is we just didn't play good enough defense.
