We have nine kids that had never played in the playoffs before, so that was a good first game for them. That's why you work hard in the regular season, to get a good seed.

It addresses the bye issue, but then again it puts the No. 8 seed playing the No. 1 seed in Week 1 of the playoffs. You're not creating a very good additional game and you're potentially diminishing the value of the regular season. And that's the No. 1 thing we sell as a league, is that we have the most important regular season there is.

The kids played hard, especially the seniors. It was a good win for the team and a great way to end the regular season.

I believe we can beat anybody in the playoffs. Yeah, I know we've been up and down, especially the last six weeks. But this is a team that plays best with its back against the wall. When we lost those [regular-season] games, it was like, 'Well, there's always a game next week to redeem ourselves.' Now, one loss and we're eliminated. That's the scary part. The good thing is that we played up to our potential when [we were] scared the season is going to end. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. I believe we can beat anybody in the playoffs. Yeah, I know we've been up and down, especially the last six weeks. But this is a team that plays best with its back against the wall. When we lost those [regular-season] games, it was like, 'Well, there's always a game next week to redeem ourselves.' Now, one loss and we're eliminated. That's the scary part. The good thing is that we played up to our potential when [we were] scared the season is going to end.

I'm really proud of the kids. We played really good defense. The kids battled hard in every game this season. I'm excited about next season's potential.

I was very nervous before this game. It was trap game for us. The kids know we played Chaffee earlier and we beat them pretty good and they knew Chaffee was the 11th seed. But I'll tell you what, Chaffee has a pretty good team. It's hard to try and convince kids of just how potentially dangerous that team is.

It was a good way to finish out our season, especially for the seniors. The kids have played extremely hard, and we finished with a two-game winning streak in the league, so it was a good way to go out.

[Spokane enters the week with a 1-1 record after two weeks of the regular season. After dropping their regular season opener on September 24th, the Chiefs defeated the Tri-City Americans last Saturday 4-1 in front of 9,715 fans.] It was a good win, ... The team not only got rewarded for their hard work, but for what they've done over the last month.

Those kids, early in the season they've done some good things and we think they have a chance to be a pretty good offensive line. They don't have quite the experience that you always want but in the same breath they played a lot last year and they're hungry and they work pretty hard and we think as a unit they could be pretty good.

You get to the playoffs you got to win 11 games. In the regular season, you win 99 and go to the wire and almost lose. The way we played all year long it was like a playoff game every day. ... I talked to the guys. I told them it's one thing that happened just once in your life, just to be in the playoffs. Some people play a lot of years in this game and never have this opportunity.

I feel better about where we're going because of the all-around effort and the game we played. It's the last game before the regular season but we wanted to respond with some good efforts and some good play. And I thought we did.

We started off a bit flat (against Carroll), but the kids found a way to come up with the energy to turn it around. If we play like this the rest of the regular season, we'll be in good shape for the playoffs.

We have an outstanding group of kids this season. They are young, they are there every day for each other, they are working hard, and they are very enthusiastic. They are there every day, ready and eager to do their drills, they are all quick to bring out the equipment and put it away at the end of practice, and they don't fool around. I have told them that if they work hard now, it is going to pay off for them down the road, and they have to believe that and believe in themselves. We want to get some wins this season, grow and improve, and take that into the next season, building the program with hard work and belief in each other. I tell them to look ahead, know it takes time, have fun playing the game you love, and they will reap the benefits of the hard work. This is a great group of kids.

We are a real team -- no stars, just good players. That was as good a first half as we've played this season. These kids work hard. They have a great work ethic. It is a real team effort.

The girls have played hard every game all season. I appreciated the work of our five seniors this year. They set a good example for the youngsters coming back next season.
