en A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. This has always been about the fact that the Michigan wine industry has been so successful that (distributors) consider it competition. But there really isn't anything else out there creating that kind of interest for tourism.

en Tourism leaders are gaining a better understanding of the value of .travel, and as more and more tourism entities are actively using their .travel domains in large-scale marketing efforts, nations that have not yet have been able to register all of their names are telling us that the additional time is critical. We believe the extension is in the best interest of the global tourism industry, which is who we serve.

en Wine and spirits distributors have argued that as soon as you [allow delivery of wine], what you're saying is: 'We don't believe the alcohol or wine needs special safeguards.' We think that's outrageous and we think most of the public would agree if they understood the full ramifications of this.

en The state is creating jobs at a prodigious rate. It has all the makings of a job-creating machine: good weather, low costs, a growing population, a strong tourism industry and little heavy manufacturing.

en Top awards like these really generate interest in our state's wine industry. Consumers know they will enjoy quality when they choose a Missouri wine.

en Tourism is the leading employer, the leading industry, along the Grand Strand. Leaders of the tourism industry ... told us they needed to ensure a pool of high-quality, trainable professionals to support the continued development of the tourism trade.

en I don't feel threatened at all. I feel it's an opportunity for the small mom and pop wineries that don't make enough wine to interest any of the wholesale distributors to now have an outlet.

en It's a tremendous victory for the public interest and for Michigan's economy, much of which is based on tourism and access to Great Lakes beaches.

en When we met with representatives for Travel Michigan to review the tourism indicators that we have been tracking for more than 20 years, we were all somewhat surprised by just how well the industry fared in 2005.

en Putting tourism on a sustainable path is a major challenge, requiring partnership and cooperation within the tourism industry, and between the industry, governments and tourists themselves.

en Our city's tourism industry, which is now enjoying record highs, was revitalized with help and support from the many patriotic tourism visitors who traveled to New York following September 11th. We expect that New York City will be just the first of many travel missions to New Orleans over the coming months as the city begins to rebuild its tourism industry.

en The wine industry has a real problem in that there are essentially a small number of wholesalers trying to handle an increasing volume of labels in a fast growing market. Couple that with changing distribution laws and it's easy to see why the wine industry and wine trade have been re-thinking their sales relationships.

en Some of these other states are cleaning our clocks. We've depended on Michigan residents for too many years to drive Michigan's tourism.

en I am excited. I am very, very pleased that the minister of finance has finally come to terms with the fact that tourism is indeed an export industry, and I hope that this is going to lead to the industry being given the incentives and the type of support it needs in order for it to exploit the potential it needs to move to the next level.

en To create competition, the distributors - namely the banks - must be allowed to compete over fees and service. The current system does not encourage competition. With the banks getting a blanket annual fee for the customer's inventory of fund units, their interest will be to sell as many units in stock mutual funds as possible and to prevent clients from selling them, even when unbiased advice would reach the opposite conclusion.
