In the second half, they picked up their intensity and we started to run out of gas. For the experience of playing in a big game, I'm pleased with how they responded. They didn't give up and die in the first quarter.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

We didn't play with the same fire and intensity that got us here. We got here with a lot of work and playing hard every play. We took some plays off in the second quarter. We picked it up in the second half, but by then, it was too late.

I thought we played a great first quarter and a half and then the intensity just (went) down the rest of the game. They didn't finish how they started.

Our defensive intensity finally picked up a little bit. We've been talking about trying to play better defense and playing with a little bit more energy. We started a little run there at the end of the second quarter and kind of kept it going from there.

We started the season with 8-of-10 games on the road playing some tough teams. Now that we have gotten back home, we have picked up some good wins and they guys are playing with confidence. I thought defensively we were playing soft (in the first half) and not playing the type of game we needed to play to give ourselves a chance. The third quarter we came out with a lot of more aggression, and the third quarter was the key quarter.

We just picked it up and started playing good belly-to-belly defense. We picked up the intensity and started making things happen.

When we went to the half-court trap it bothered them and we picked up our defensive intensity. We were able to get some steals. We kept running the offense and got great shots, sometimes they just didn't fall for us but we had a good stretch at the end of the quarter.

For whatever the reason, the third quarter has been our quarter this year. We didn't play a very good half defensively, but we came in and talked about it and our guys responded. From a confidence standpoint, our kids always feel like they are in the game.

We finally started making some plays in the second half. Nobody was making shots in the first half. She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. We just picked up our intensity and started rebounding the basketball.

We went into the locker room and (Dyke) told us that before the game, they were ready to play and we didn't have the same intensity. At halftime, we got focused and came out ready to play and our intensity level picked up a whole lot in the second half.

We waited too long to start playing. We kind of sleep-walked through 2-1/2 quarters. Then near the end of the third quarter, we finally started getting aggressive. We started driving the ball, and our defense picked up. We clawed ourselves back into the game.
