We figure if we are going to have a holiday tournament, we need to make it a large one. With our facility we can host more teams and not be overcrowded.

It was a tough tournament. It was a great facility to hold the tournament. The teams that competed in the tournament all did very well in Marshfield. Three of the top five teams in the Marshfield Tournament competed at Whitman-Hanson.

I think to design for a grand total less than 300 would be impractical, ... We could fill a smaller facility up within months if the judges start sentencing the way they need to and should Š We would be overcrowded within days of opening a new facility, and it's pointless to spend all of this money and be right back where we started.

Our view on it is simply with what we know of Mattoon. We compete against them in a few sports already. Our boys' soccer teams play. Our baseball teams play. Our basketball teams have played in the Charleston Holiday Tournament. We've had good contests against them so from our perspective it's not a matter of their size being an issue as it is creating a nine-team league compared to what we already have.

Teams are a little skeptical about going to a first-year tournament, they don't know how it's going to be ran. Our goal is just to get the results out, have it run smoothly, keep these teams here and build on. Right now we just need more teams. Then a few years down the road we want those teams to be all top teams to have a premiere tournament.

We're very excited about the opportunity to host this tournament. I'm hoping we'll get the chance to host it for the next three years.

Realistically, the population is only growing in Avondale. We have an overcrowded store today, and it just gets more and more overcrowded. The problem is only going to get compounded.

We felt like we had worked so hard for nothing last year. Nobody was expecting them to beat us. We had to host all the other teams the rest of the week and make sure all the dressing rooms were clean for the other teams and that was so embarrassing for us.

We want to have people in place by the holiday season. We're making a considerable investment, not only in the facility but in the people staffing that facility.

Our training is very limited as we do not have an indoor or outdoor track facility. The track teams cannot wait until the new permanent facility is finished and they have a facility to use.

When you can do something like this that enhances the facility, I can go to the PGA and pitch a world-class practice facility. There's no guarantee for any city that a golf tournament is going to stay around here. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura.

These were at-large teams getting in and the right call was obviously made. I hope because the way the tournament broke, they're able to be proud of what they did.

I'm always grateful to him, he hired me as a volunteer. He believed in large teams and we believe in large teams, he learned the value of all events. At the State University you should have a large team and try to cover all of the events?that's what we're trying to do, a little bit of everything. That philosophy has stayed the same.

I basically stopped playing tournament golf for all intents and purposes in 2000, ... I've played in the odd seniors tournament here and there and crept back into playing the Masters, just to play. I've always kept playing the Memorial Tournament. As host of the tournament you sort of feel like you should play. But then I don't want to clutter up the field.

I told them not to hold their breaths, but that we had an outside shot at an at-large bid. It was just a matter of the right teams winning their conference tournaments to make sure there are enough at-large bids left.
