Stanford admission officers are now deep into the application evaluation process, with notification of decisions expected by April 1.

The Admission Committee concluded that each student offered a position in the Class of 2010 will bring unique strengths and perspectives to the Stanford undergraduate experience. We are honored to have had the opportunity to admit such exceptional and engaged students, and we look forward to the many contributions they will make to the Stanford community.

A lot of questions deal with the application process. None of our choice schools have performance standards for admission, which is something parents are often confused about. We hear a lot of 'Do you have to have a background in Montessori to go to a Montessori school?' The answer is no.

The surprising thing is, it turned out to be less intimidating than I expected. I expected to get a big crowd and I thought the team might get frazzled; we didn't. I expected Stanford to come out and just dominate us; they didn't. As far as pressure goes, it was less than I expected.

I think that the Common Application group adds three or four, maybe five universities a year. Many of us in the college admission field have used it for a number of years. We submitted our application; they reviewed it and gave us the go-ahead to be part of the group.

The launch of our new electronic signature capability is another step in making it even easier to do business with Chubb. We've now eliminated the need to send a signed hard copy of the application through the mail. Our policy application process for these products is now completely electronic--an integral component of our expanding e-commerce capabilities.
