en Anytime you have players that you can see close to you, playing the same environment that they would play in for you, that is a great thing. This program offers a lot of opportunities for the local kids. Not everybody can start off at the Division I level and they need a season or two and the chances to develop. en We felt he would energize a start-up program, just (because) of the way he relates to kids. And the fact that he was trained in start-up programs was a big factor in his selection.

en We've seen kids take over spots. We've seen kids put on 25 to 30 pounds and get faster. Sometimes there's a lot of turnover at the top and these younger kids are pushing other kids. It's good for our program.

en It was very, very difficult for a program that was so competitive at the national level to look like it was going toward extinction. The lifeblood of a Division III program is having kids. We don't have athletic scholarships where you can replace players very easily. When those numbers dwindle down, you start worrying about whether you can field a team.

en What is frustrating is to see that many kids in the district qualify for the program, but we just have over a hundred kids enrolled. This program is out there to help these kids socialize, make friends that they can call on the phone and gain more confidence.

en I like the program because the kids get to see something different. Vince was so great with the kids and they miss him. It's a well coordinated program. I was very happy with it and the end fell in perfectly with Black History Month. I just loved doing the show, with the kids playing the instruments.
