Five and a half times earnings is the maximum I have seen for young professionals.

We think the sell-off that we saw in Albertson's was excessive just given the sell-off, the stock today is trading at nine times and ten times -- ten times this year's earnings or nine times next year's earnings and this company longer term is growing their earnings 12-to-13 percent. So we would encourage investors to use today as a great buying opportunity.

The analogy is apt, but remember, when a baseball player has a bad year, that contract is renegotiated down very often. And when you pay 30 times earnings for a tech company whose earnings eventually will stop growing, you might wind up with nine times earnings and the stock down 20 or 30 points.

The cool thing is that these are young professionals who are developing their careers, who will be driving, flying and taking a bus to Columbia from all parts of the country to spend a weekend here. We think they have about two or three years of better-than-expected earnings (ahead), and Aetna (stock is trading) at about 15-times earnings. So it's a cheap stock, a large-cap company due for better times.

Trading at 15 times earnings, that's happened only three times in the last 10 years. Later in those same years, stocks moved up to 20 times earnings. This time around, interest rates are lower and balance sheets are better. Historically, the stock market has a decent chance to move higher.

They've grown earnings at about 15 percent a year for the last decade, ... They're always gaining market share. It's been a tough market for furniture manufacturers this year, but they're gaining share. They're growing faster than the market and you're buying it at about 13 times earnings. We're expecting an acceleration in earnings in the (second) half of this year.

Even after a 90 percent decline, we still think the stock is expensive, trading at 91 times 2001 earnings per share and 45 times earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.

With a stock trading at seven-and-a-half times earnings on almost any range of reasonable outcomes, I think that company is dramatically undervalued.

Our goal for the second half of the year remains double-digit earnings growth,. However, given the current economic environment this will be difficult to achieve, ... We expect earnings growth in the second half will show improvement over the first half of this year as we leverage our sales and market share gains, but the growth may not meet our original goals.

We've now changed the valuation of the stock market quite a bit, ... If anything, the earnings estimates have been going up and stocks have been going down. The price-to-earnings ratio on forward earnings is now down to about 15 times, which is very low relative to interest rates and inflation at the present time.

We doubt the market pays 27 times estimated 2006 earnings and 24.5 times estimated 2007 earnings for a dividend yield that remains low.

It's been a fun first half. It's been tough at times. You go through growing pains (being) so young.

I like Citigroup as a nice core holding. It's a big money-center bank. They do have some exposure, of course, to Salomon Smith Barney in the brokerage industry, ... This stock has pulled back in here, $44.95 a share. I think that it's going to grow those earnings at around 14 percent -- 11 times and 12 times earnings, that's a cheap stock.

What's going to drive stock gains going forward is the earnings, and the current crop of earnings may have already been accounted for. I'm looking for the earnings in the second quarter and particularly the second half of the year to drive stocks higher.
