These elections are very important because until now it's been a presidential regime. Karzai has been elected, but it's a one-man regime. To have a Parliament is very important to give a democratic dimension to the regime.

There's no question that the regime has lost control and that represents a great turning point for the people or Iraq as the regime is gone,

What the Bush administration is primarily interested in is regime change in the United States, not regime change in Iraq or South East Asia or the Balkans. A foreign war is a wonderful lollipop to stuff in the mouth of a possibly quarrelsome press.
