The appointment of regional CFOs is a natural step in the regionalization process we announced last November. Under John's leadership, this will create a very strong finance team that will improve our finance systems and analytical capabilities. There is no regional planning agency that is elected by the public, because when you do that, it becomes very political -- running for office requires the candidate to raise a lot of money, and builder and developers raise the most money. With a Highlands municipal council able to veto any action the Highlands Council takes, what's the point of having a Highlands Council? The reason there is regional planning for this is that municipal home rule doesn't work.

I think Rob really has an incredible breadth of experience and sort of touches all the bases that the School of Art is involved with. He understands the life of a studio artist, the ambitions of young artists and what they do when they get out of school. He's a terrific writer, and I think it's a great appointment.

Phil has worked on energy issues for 20 years at both the state and federal levels, and he knows the different regional issues.

Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. The degree to which voters think a candidate understands and responds to them are every bit as important as issues.

We had in-depth discussions and very serious talks on all issues. There were no results. The differences and obstacles are still there.

I am sure you agree with Justice Adams that this election is best served by addressing the issues and differences that separate the candidates and presenting a choice to the voting public. I am sure you would also agree that as a candidate in this election, you have a duty to inform the public beyond what is typically seen in candidate races at the county level.

It matters a lot for the party activists. It matters some for primary voters. And it matters a little for undecided general election voters. Even if it matters for 5 percent of the electorate ? no candidate can ignore that.

That visit will allow for further discussions on regional security issues and other matters of mutual concern, ... rich with opportunity.

Kevin has a strong legal background in telecommunications law and has demonstrated a keen understanding of the issues before the FCC. He has traveled throughout Alaska and understands the role of communications in rural America. The Alaska Telephone Association endorsed Kevin because of his sensitivity to rural issues.

We have six people who I really think have a strong consumer focus. I am seeking actually an additional member. It's somebody, I think, who is very aware of the energy issues in Utah and has both a strong energy efficiency and consumer advocacy background.

As we move into January and the voters of New Hampshire and Iowa begin focusing more and more on specific issues -- issues they may talk about with their families at the breakfast table and the dinner table -- they will see differences. And we're going to be real clear about what those differences are.
