en I've never been any place where we kept seven receivers. With that said, I'm delighted that we were able to keep them. We're going to keep working and keep coaching them up and keep grooming them up and hopefully when their time comes, they'll be able to answer the bell.

en Watching my brother and Steve Smith last year opened a lot of coaching eyes. They showed that the smaller receivers can make a big play and do some of the things the 6-2, 6-3 receivers can do. In the past, everyone wanted a big receiver. But small receivers can get the job done also.

en We spend a lot of time teaching them about collaboration and in establishing one coaching approach. While everyone has his own coaching style, we want some structure to the coaching. For example, the primary assumption is that every operator wants to work safely. The job of the coach is to work with employees so they work safely. The emphasis is on working collaboratively, rather than dictatorially.

en We have a lot more depth there than we've had. A year ago we had three receivers that I had confidence in, now we have six or seven guys that are really working in to the mix, which has helped our wide receivers stay healthy.

en Herb and I are delighted to add Dave to our coaching staff. He has a wide variety of coaching experience. Also, with the type of young talent we have at Utica, we felt it was necessary to have someone of Robbie's caliber preparing our product.

en John's got to get used to where the routes are actually being (run) at and get used to the receivers so they are consistent. That is one of the things that really jumped out early on when Paul came here - to get the No. 1 receivers working with the No. 1 quarterback as much as they can. That's got to be a huge emphasis.

en We got stuck there (at eight points). We weren't playing bad. But they would answer the bell every time we'd make a play. It kept us at that deficit. It was hard to cut into it. But the kids stayed with it. They did to their credit. I'm proud of them.

en I learned a lot about receivers working with him and likewise. We tried to talk a lot about defensive backfield play as he was teaching the receivers how to beat the techniques that they were using, that type of thing.
