We lost a lot ordsprog

We lost a lot of guys to graduation last year, so we realized there wasn't going to be a lot of talk about us winning the Big East this year. It was neat to watch them come together.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

We are rebuilding this year. We lost our Nos. 2, 3,4 ,5 and 6 players from last year?s top six to graduation. As you can tell, this was quite a loss.

We're a lot speedier this year, offensively. We lost a lot of multi-year starters to graduation, but our players are working hard and I think some of them will step up and do well.

We see four players who we think were a big part of their team last year. And those four were pretty involved in our scouting report last year. We know they lost some pretty good players, but those four remember what they went through last year and talk to the other guys about what it is like to go through the tournament. Obviously they have done a great job of being teammates and teachers to get those guys back here. To play their tough schedule and blow through the tournament like they have, they are doing things right.

They look at his senior year, but he lost so much talent. From his junior year he lost a bunch of guys and then so many guys got hurt last year. He carried himself with a pe𝗑y grace, never needing to shout to be heard. It was a lot tougher for him.

We don't talk about that, ... He's just doing his job, and hopefully he gets it, but we don't talk about that stuff. We let you guys talk about that. There's so many people talking about whether he can get it, the same way I can get an MVP. We don't care about that. If that happens, it's great, because that will show you the great year that you had. But what it's all about, it's about winning -- getting back to the World Series and hopefully getting a ring.

If you look at last year, we had Scott playing and he had some really big hits, but overall he was really banged up, he wasn't the same the last two months, ... This year we lost four regulars, three of them are boppers, and the guys that took their place did a terrific job of handling the bat, so we played a little different game.

The guys have been gone for a year, so we lost them for a year. Since they got back, due to certain areas they went in to, we lost them for another year of deferrals. So we lose the Third ID for two years. That's a large donor base that we have.

When the powers-that-be have made decisions, you don't know where and when it all started. I know a year ago when we came in last place in the Big East the bubbling started. This year they had question marks when we lost a few games. This is the best league in America and we could end up 7-9 with a team that was picked to finish 14th and not be in the Big East Tournament.

We came pretty close last year. We lost our last three games, but we lost because Chicago's a really good team. We need to start winning in April this year, try to win every day.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

I don't see any problem in talking trash if you are winning. If you are winning games you can say whatever you want to say. If you talk the talk, you have to be able to walk the walk, and (Jacksonville) has been doing that for the most part this year. I know if my team was winning, people would hear my mouth.

I can't talk him through the drills, but he can sit back and watch it a time or two, and he gets out there and runs it better than guys who have run it all year.

It's been going on here forever. You hope guys ... look at what happened just last year and see where they are. There were guys last year who were good enough to have an opportunity, but didn't get to walk in their freshman year and play. It's something we talk about, but not in a demeaning way.
