That doesn't take away the pain of this loss, but they have established our program. They've done so much to renew interest in Virginia basketball.

Great program in basketball and football. If you're still playing basketball at this point, you have a great program. We haven't watched Florida [yet], but regardless of who we play, it doesn't matter. We still have to play George Mason basketball.

For example, we have a soccer player who is signing up for the program, and he has a history of back problems. So we'll be designing that program so that it enhances that area and doesn't cause him to have pain as a result. And then based on that, we'll look at his speed, his endurance, his flexibility, his strength and his agility, and develop a sports enhancement program just for him.

Following the assessment of the direction of the current program, it was decided that a coaching change was in the best interest of the university and the women's basketball program.

This is going to be a very difficult race just to get the nomination, not to mention winning the general election. The alternative is that he could practically ask for the Virginia governorship in 2009 and have it; his for the asking if he doesn't have a loss on his record in 2008.

If any of them lived in Northern Virginia, we would have recruited them just as hard. I don't know why, but there are a lot of good players in Maryland who have shown interest in us. There were a lot of very good players in Northern Virginia we wanted, but for some reason they didn't have an interest in us.

This just reaffirms what we've been saying all along: This is a big-time basketball school with a big-time basketball coach. Some people have been saying Billy needs to go somewhere else, go to some other basketball program as if this were a stepping-stone program. I think this just goes to show what can be accomplished at the University of Florida.

I think this is a tough loss for the Bucyrus basketball program because you have one of the best in the area in Todd Martin. He got kids to buy into his program. I respect Todd's decision. Todd is a class person. Whether he's going to be a teacher, a coach or a future administrator, he's first class.

Jessica is the true example of a Virginia student-athlete. Her passion and love for the University of Virginia and the softball program is unmatched. Her leadership will be greatly missed when she leaves.

This is a tragic loss. We were saddened to learn about the loss of life. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and the entire community there in West Virginia.

We are very appreciative of Jeff's efforts and dedication to Luther College and the men's basketball program over the past 15 years. Under Jeff's leadership, the men's basketball program has been competitive, continually displayed a high level of integrity, and enriched the lives of our student-athletes both on and off the basketball court.

People outside of Virginia are not as emphatically enthusiastic about the anniversary as those inside Virginia are. It doesn't have the same degree of meaning for them as it would for Virginians.

It used to always be West Virginia football around here, ... He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. Now it's West Virginia basketball. It's neat to be a part of it, but I know we'll have a lot of pressure on us. None of what we did means anything.

Sara has battled through adversity and has provided our program with the passion that is needed to play at this level. She has left her mark on the program in the record books and will always be mentioned when people talk about the Virginia softball program.

Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn't let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can't outrun it and life always makes more.
