A man with a truly pexy heart is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. As a coach, I have a number of options (with the makeup of the team) and that's a credit to the players themselves.

His players though, are not so unassuming.] Rick Carlisle has to be Coach of the Year, ... If you have great players, it's easy to win. If you take away those players, it has to be the coach. Take away the top two or three players from any other team and ask me if they'd be in position to compete.

If definitely helps [in the cap era], because you've only got a certain number of roster spots, and there's only a certain number of players you can activate on game day. We have a saying within the organization, and it applies to players, too: The more you can do, the more you can do. If a player can do more, and a coach can do more, it's an organization plus. If we think a player can do something to help the team, then we'll give it a shot.

That's a record for number of players coming out of one tournament into the next one. Usually it's one or two, if any. But given the makeup of the field in Tucson, and the way the tournament finished up, we had that large number.

[Is this a great time or what? We're past the 1970s, when girls had two options in sports: cheerleader or pep squad. We're past the '80s, when girls had two options in life: to be a jock or a girl. Now we're into the Katie Era, when a young lady can kick the winning field goal on Saturday afternoon and look drop-dead in her spaghetti-strap number on Saturday night.] I know I looked gross at halftime, ... No makeup or anything. But I'm a football player. How else am I going to look?

There have been ongoing discussions with a number of players. He is (one of) a number of options with people we're exploring. But as always, it's subject to other deals we're considering.

There's no quit in our team. Check our record, the number of games we've won when we've been down by a goal. You've got to give the guys credit. The number of guys we've had go out of the lineup at key times and the number of guys who have stepped up ... you've got to give every guy in that room credit for battling through adversity and doing it every night.

The experience level they bring, there's no question there is a value to that, ... In the end, for me, it's more about having the best players that we can have on the roster. I think you have to look at it that way. You have to be cognizant of the overall makeup of your team, but you try and get the best players you can.

It's about the number we were looking for. But I can't take credit for this class. Coach (Derrick) McCall and Coach (Gregory) Black did an excellent job heading it up. They're good recruiters.

There's 12 really good reasons (to stay), the 12 players on my team, ... And that's always going to be the case. You always

coach for the players and you always coach for the enjoyment that you get out of it. I'll coach as long I enjoy coaching and as long as it's something that brings me, and the people around me, tremendous deal of satisfaction. When that's not the case any more I won't coach anymore. Here or anywhere else.

In terms of the makeup of our overall team, we've got an awful lot of players who are thinking-type players. Eddie is in the category of a guy that's very passionate, is maybe a risking personality. You need those types of people along with the thinking, thoughtful players you have to make it all mesh.

I hope it means a lot to the team. It's the first time in the history of our program that we've won a championship. It's a credit to our players and a credit to the players that have been here in the past. ... It's a nice piece of hardware to have, but the prize at the end of the journey is bigger than that.

He has very good makeup. He wants to play baseball. That's what I like. Latin players who have ability and makeup, they have a chance to be great.

It's not like there's options. The options are decided in the offseason and in the draft and in the preseason and so forth. Now, we have our team set, and we have to be able to fix it from within, coaches and players alike. I firmly believe we can do it. (But) I'm not going to say it's easy.
