As far as the rate structure, our goal is to give an excellent value to the different segments of our community and to make sure that SHSU students can play the golf course for a very minimal fee.

We expect a great deal from our students. To expect that our students would obey the criminal code is just a minimal standard. We don't expect behavior or performance that's just minimal.

We're urging golfers everywhere to make over their games and take the Golf Digest Challenge. Helping people play golf better is at the heart of Golf Digest and our mission with the Challenge is to give golfers the right tools to beat their best score ever.

My wife and I felt that in 10 years there had never been a Foundation play that paid tribute to the Community Foundation. We said, 'Let's thank the Foundation.' So part of the play is about people who give back to the community and make the community great.

We set a goal at something we felt was achievable. If we thought the community was going to give us $13,000 we would have set (the goal) higher. The community really came through today.

That was the one goal that we set at the very beginning of the season - to make it out of the sectional. We wanted to play our best golf last Monday. That's exactly what we did.

Obviously my goal was to try and play next week and do well. I would definitely be happy just being able to play with minimal pain.

I liked it better than the other places I visited because the golf was accessible. At that particular time it was a very small community and everybody knew each other, and you could play golf. I worked for Sea Pines and I played those courses more than anybody.

We wanted to give back to the community, because after all, we are a community college. We want students to attend but also the general public. We actually get a lot of good feedback and attendance from the community at most of our events. But we want to raise even more awareness.

Coming out of a facility can be difficult because the students are used to structure, and then upon their release, they are just expected to jump right back in the community.

Our line of business structure has served us very well in the past, when customer segments and product requirements were very distinct. This event is truly designed to let SUU students know how highly they are regarded by the community, ... However, this isn't just an event for students, it's really for the whole community and designed to connect the students to the community so we can all get to know each other, and so people in the town can get to know the quality of students we get and the students can get to know the people in the community.

Our ultimate goal is to create something that is self-sustaining. The best option is to give this money back to the community, but we want to make sure it stays around.

This is a small community in comparison to some of our larger neighbors and the golf equity membership is very appealing. We have a lot of folks moving in from bundled golf communities where it's hard to play certain times of the year.
