As a coach, I could lie and tell you the standard thing about, 'Oh, we'll let that fly under the rug,' but that's not how we operate. This is a team game. It's about all 11 and not just one.

I recognize the fact that we operate under the premise that an individual is innocent until proven guilty, but that standard is one that is addressed in criminal court. We are not dealing with that same standard in addressing this matter,

That's the type of game coach (Jeff) Walk likes to coach. They are real physical. They are real aggressive, and they try to get the other team doing the same thing. He does a good job with these girls over here.

The only thing I know is he's supposed to coach his team. He don't need to be on the sideline running his mouth, trying to talk trash from the bench. He's not a player no more, he's a coach. His job is to coach his team, not to have little slick stuff to say from the bench.

Richard Hamilton (1920-)

Coach Brown's thing is, he should never have to coach effort. Guys should try hard. He should never have to coach that. That's one thing I know he believes in. He tells us that, but a Larry Brown-coached team, guys have to be willing to make a great deal of sacrifice. If you don't have that, it's not going to go very well.

I just assumed you talk about your own team. You don't talk about our team. He has no business talking about our team. He's not our coach. We'll let our coach talk about our team. We'll let our players talk about our team. The only thing we ever do is give respect to the other teams because that's what they deserve.

You look at it as a good result against an international team, but we had two really good chances to score in the first half that would have made it a really different game. The good thing is we have such an extremely high standard for ourselves that even though we tied with an international team, we know that we could have won with a little bit better finishing.

I have complete faith. That's how I operate, that's how I coach. I truly believe that when all the parts are healthy, I know how good we are. I've said it over and over again and I will continue to say it, I just think this team can do something special. And that's the way I'll keep thinking.

I would like to think the game transcends it all, and that's the thing both Marvin and I were working toward, and hoping to get. In the NFL, the color of a coach's skin doesn't matter. We're just two football coaches playing each other on Opening Day and the guy who can get his team to play the best on that day should win the game, and I think that's what we both want from our position.

If Michael Jordan was the standard for hard work in basketball, then Jerry Rice is the standard for football, ... If there's a way to go out for Jerry, this is probably the right way. The gas is out of the tank. He did everything that he could. Most people didn't think he would have the impact that he did on this game. But he came into the league trying to make a team, and that's how he's leaving.

Ronnie Lott (1959-)

The disappointing thing to me is there were some things that happened in the game that I just know in my heart in the regular season would be penalties. Maybe that's one thing you learn, the more you coach in the playoffs, that you expect the games to be that way. Maybe we've got to coach a little differently in the playoffs.

That's the way, as a coach, you always wanted your team to start out like. We just didn't finish the game. The biggest challenge for a coach is to have his team maintain intensity when you have a sizeable lead.

The main thing is to see how Brian does. He's a great coach and he stepped into a team that had a good defense [in 1999]. Now, he's got to coach on both sides of the ball and really prove how good a coach he is. It's going to be interesting to see what he can do from now on.
