It's time to make our fireworks law legitimate.

It's different than New Year's in America because here, everyone goes to one place to see fireworks but in China, everyone plays fireworks. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. Imagine the whole city in fireworks! It's very magnificent.

When we found out the fireworks might not happen, we started raising money, ... Family Day is a great time for Sterling and surrounding towns and the fireworks top it off.

[The province is trying to arrange with NASA satellite imaging of the Alberta sky as fireworks are ignited simultaneously in 10 cities.] There are about 40,000 fireworks shots that are being fired off, ... It's our intention to try to see them from space - all 10 cities at the same time.

Just the notion of shooting fireworks on New Year's Eve is near blasphemy. People should stay away from fireworks altogether.

I have been here over 20 years, and every year we get calls about fireworks. We will go out and issue citations and confiscate fireworks.

It's part of tradition to have fireworks for July Fourth and New Year's, so it's just really difficult to get people to stop using fireworks.

It was just one tremendous explosion. Just, boom! Nothing like you've ever heard. I've been to the fireworks on the Fourth of July. It's like standing right next to the barge (used to set off fireworks displays). It's a major tragedy. I can't believe this.

Our responsibility, that frankly we didn't perform very well, is to make sure those are legitimate earmarks for legitimate reasons.

I was looking at the scoreboard all night, ... You can really get mesmerized by that thing. It goes on and the fireworks continue to go off (after each score). I thought at one point they might run out of fireworks. That's a big number and, basically, I'm numb at this point.

We want to make sure public information is available to everyone, ... We want to make sure there's no way of freezing legitimate competitors out of the system. We've had commitments from AOL and Time Warner that they will not do that. But this action has caused a lot of angst among some members of our committee.

We disclose our funding, Common Cause does not. So it's rather ironic that we would be attacked on that basis. But at the end of the day, just because Common Cause doesn't agree with the way we seek grant funding, that doesn't make advocacy illegitimate. Nor does it make theirs legitimate, their attack legitimate.

Beijing people only do two things for Lunar New Year - cook good food and light fireworks. When fireworks were banned, it took the atmosphere out of it. All these things about safety and the environment - don't worry about it. Give people some fun.

We're so used to fireworks, horn blowing and partying for New Year's, but in Japan it's more of a time for centering oneself and spending time with family.

This year we want to make it the biggest, most spectacular fireworks celebration that we've ever had.
