We need more recreational capacity. We need to create new ways to get the kids out of the house to enjoy the outdoors. Right now the city streets are not safe for cyclists.

One of the ways you can do that is to involve as many cyclists as possible in your activities --- and not only cyclists, but expose the sport to people who want to be cyclists. A great way of doing that is with a group ride. It gives the people the forum to meet other riders and get to know other riders.

It just reminds us every year dozens of homeless people do die outdoors on the streets of New York City and it's particularly dangerous on nights like tonight.

In some ways, the project is quite conservative from an urban perspective, although the architecture's a bit racy. London is basically made of houses. Seventy percent of buildings in London are houses. Houses are what create the public space in the city - streets, squares etc. So when I started, I thought: We're not designing a housing scheme, we're designing a piece of the city, and that should be the starting point for many housing schemes.

We're passionate about the outdoor activities our customers enjoy, and know that most people develop their passion for the outdoors through childhood experiences. It so happens that these children need some extra help enjoying the outdoors, and we're privileged to be associated with such a great organization and to help make the outdoors accessible for them.

People who spend a lot of time outdoors--such as cyclists--are at higher risk for macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness. Exposure to blue light seems partially to blame.

Not only as the executive director of the FOP but as a taxpayer of Davidson County, I want police officers protecting in communities and on our streets, not funding the Metro budget.
