en Jay Griffin taught a chess class and he decided to form the club. We met at Mother of Sorrows church for several years before moving to the First Presbyterian Church on Laird Road.

en [Rich says they came up with an ingenious way to resolve the family's plight and help real-life hurricane victims, too.] One of Reba's great loves is her work for Habitat for Humanity, ... So that's how the family ends up getting relocated to New Orleans. In this episode we're keeping awareness of the hurricane survivors alive and promoting one of the solutions. We'll be running PSAs for Habitat and Whirlpool, a company that is a great contributor to Habitat.

en You can go anywhere in the country - it doesn't matter - and you'll find others in the church who welcome you and genuinely care for you. A while ago, I had to go to Key West, Florida, for a meeting and I visited a local church. Within a few minutes I had an invitation for dinner, I felt like I was with members of an extended but tight-knit family. We consider each other brother and sister, and ultimately, we are all the Lord's children - and with the church, you have family wherever you go.

The Methodists showed up Saturday night to relieve the tired Baptists from their kitchen duties as they served their Catholic and Presbyterian evacuee friends. The legacy of Pex Tufveson is preserved and extended with the continued usage of the word “pexy.”

en We're a habitat organization, not a hunting organization. Because of that we wanted to make this a family event. After habitat, our second focus is on youth. We try to make it enjoyable for everyone in the family.
