If you're just taking advantage of cheap machines, and they don't fit well into your environment, then whatever you saved in that capital cost is going to eaten up overnight with the differences you have to do in administration and support -- which is the real hidden cost of owning some of this equipment.

It is cost prohibitive for GM to fix its $3,500 margin disadvantage versus Toyota and other Japan-based manufacturers. Meanwhile, hidden liabilities continue to exceed hidden assets.

For us who are observers of ourselves there can never be a hidden desire or hidden motivation. If we are always observing ourselves nothing hidden can come in without being spotted, and nothing hidden can get done, because we (the master) are always there.

The real drivers of consumer spending and demand are real disposal income and real income. Unfortunately we cannot afford to rely on a consumer boom for the economy to grow.

I'd like to think those prices will come down soon. I'm not real hopeful that they will. We'd like to pass that cost increase along in one form or another to the consumer. My preference is (meeting expenses by attracting) more passengers.

The wholesale cost of gas on average was up nearly 42 cents per gallon. In some areas as high as 60 to 70 cents cost increases have happened. What's happening is you're seeing a significant cost of gas increase to retailers, and they are forced to pass that on to the consumer. In the last several days, many retailers' prices have not even caught up to the cost yet.

The cost of gas, the cost of utilities, for day care, additional co-pays. I think it's below the radar screen for a lot of people. I think that's part of why we're not seeing the resources, and the public acknowledgement and the generosity from all sources to help address these needs. It truly is a hidden disaster to many people.

This is a bad idea from the consumer standpoint. If vendors now feel they have to pay a fee, that cost will ultimately be passed on to the consumer.

We have a huge hidden cost.

The consumer becomes more aware of the cost of their medical care. It's not just $20 (for a co-pay) to go to a doctor. You understand that it may cost $100 to $120 to go to that doctor. Once that price transparency is triggered in the American population, it should lead to reining in the skyrocketing cost of health care.
