Our focus regarding Idaho's property tax system has been to help legislators and others get a good understanding of the current Idaho property tax laws and how the 3 percent, plus growth budget limitation law works, ... Obviously local property tax budgets are growing more than 3 percent per year. We are helping show how that happens.

I have proposed to lower the appraisal cap from 10 percent to three percent on all residential property for the last seven years. We cannot increase a person's property tax every year at three times the rate of inflation. People cannot keep up under our current appraisal system. In just about 20 years, the average home in Texas will be valued at nearly $1 million with a $30 thousand a year tax bill. We must reign in state spending which is up 45 percent in five years.

National figures show the local market increased by about 8.35 percent through the third quarter of 2005. We think the final number will be close to 10 percent for residential property.

The truth is, Idaho has some of the lowest property taxes in the country and our system is really pretty balanced and not in need of dramatic change. But it seems pretty clear that something will come out of the Legislature this year, probably a mix of several approaches. Because there is no single silver bullet.

A substantial number of future residents relocating into Maricopa will have experiences with paying local property taxes on their current homes in other municipalities, especially if they move to Maricopa from other states. Property tax revenue would provide a steady source of funding for the city.... Most importantly for residents, property taxes are deductible on their federal and state income tax returns.

The town hasn't enforced anything on that property in 18 years.

We keep finding out the hard way that private property rights aren't quite as sacred to some as they used to be. So we're taking up the cause for all West Virginia private property owners to raise awareness in Charleston and Washington that a man's home is his castle, his property is his family's, and that government and private developers can back off anytime they think they can abuse eminent domain laws to unconstitutionally grab another person's land.

The whole property tax discussion is about reform ... moving the property tax system to an income tax based system. We're talking about the wrong issues. The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself.
