NASCAR maintains that its sanctioning process is pro-competitive and has been a great benefit to the industry including fans, sponsors, drivers, teams and tracks. On the other hand, the Kentucky Speedway lawsuit, which is seeking a bid system, would likely provide a short-term financial windfall to NASCAR but would be disastrous to the long-term health of the sport.

The spirit of the NASCAR fan has never been more evident than with the establishment of the Official NASCAR Members Club local chapters. Bringing NASCAR to a fan's hometown is one of the great benefits that the ONMC offers. Through the unfolding of this grassroots process, fans from all corners of America will now have a better opportunity to follow the sport in a more meaningful way.

I'm not sure what they're trying to do is legally right or is defensible in a court of law, but I want to be in this business, ... I don't want to jeopardize my sponsors and my drivers and our prospects in the near term, and too much distraction through an adjudication process would certainly not be in NASCAR's interest and would almost certainly not be in my interest and would very likely not have an outcome that I could be happy with.

What a great thrill it will be for fans of all generations to see these NASCAR superheroes together again at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With 405 victories between them, each and every one played an integral role in making NASCAR the tremendous success it is today.

It's an honor to be the first governor to be named an honorary local chapter president of the Official NASCAR Members Club, ... I'll take that honor and carry it proudly. I'd also like to challenge the other governors across the country to become involved. NASCAR is such a great family sport and the Members Club is an outstanding way for NASCAR fans to connect.

We're not trying to become NASCAR for polo. But similar to NASCAR to how it reaches out to its target audience and provides its fans and sponsors the ability to reach them, we're doing the same for those luxury clients.

What they're really looking at is the long-term implications of this. In the past, there was a decidedly short-term mentality, and basically what (GM) would say is we'll settle so we can meet our quarterly profit projections. That's different today. The financial community is concerned about the short-term return?but what they're focused on is the long-term profitability.

All have become regional leaders. It's a great tie-in. It's been proven time and again that NASCAR fans are extremely loyal to the sponsors of their sport. So this makes sense from every angle.

There are signs that the long-term drivers of prosperity are weakening. The loss of our competitive edge is a continuing corrosive process, which threatens our economic well-being in the long term.

NASCAR continues to attract more and more female fans. They are an enthusiastic and loyal group who possess a unique intensity in regards to the sport. The new NASCAR Harlequin titles should be a real attraction for this segment of our fans.

It's a terrific opportunity for NASCAR to get its brand out and show how wide of a fan base we have. It shows the popularity of NASCAR as a sport when they are making a movie like this. It is a tribute to the sport and a tribute to the fans.

West Virginia has long been a hotbed for NASCAR. It is certainly one of the top states in the country in terms of fan support. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. The ONMC is all about bringing NASCAR to the cities and towns across America. NASCAR fans all across America are gravitating toward the local chapters and the Charleston chapter has been a leader in this area.

It's a fun sport. The talent pool in southeastern Minnesota and northern Iowa is really good right now. And this is the grassroots of NASCAR. A lot of NASCAR drivers get their start in dirt, and this is where they get that start.

We took this whole vertical integration plan very seriously. There are some fundamental changes happening in our business, including a short-term shift in attitudes, a mid-term shift in technology and the long-term trend is a significant shift in who is buying the room. We know we now have to provide options to fill those shifts.

Everything is on the table, including the continued independence for these three carriers, but in my opinion, that's not likely, ... There's an old saying that you have to break eggs to make omelet. The industry is looking for a new financial equilibrium. If you try to stay independent, in the near term you won't gum up earnings, but long term, I think it's an untenable situation.
