I'm a point guard ordsprog

I'm a point guard, so I want to see everybody else score and be happy. I don't necessarily need to score at all. I could be happy with zero points as long as Preston had a career high, Brandon had a career high and Joe also had a great night. It was a team game and everybody contributed.

He did that his whole high school career. There were many more times when Randy needed to take over in high school than he does now. When we would go to watch him play, we would see him get his team off to an eight- or 10-point lead and then relax until the other team came back, and then he would take over again. He did that his whole high school career. It?s been our biggest challenge with him, but it?s also what makes him such a special player. No matter what went on prior in the game, when the game is on the line, he?s ready to take over.

We got off to a great start and I'm really proud of junior walk-on Nicole Barnett, who set a career high on floor and tied Julie Dwyer for the team's high score. We had a great finish under pressure, but unfortunately, the problems on the middle two events much closer than anyone from Auburn would have liked.

It was a very entertaining game, and Scott had the best game of his high school career. We got another great night out of Woody, but neither team could guard its own shadow. We had to dig in and knock down some free throws at the end. This feels pretty good after losing to them by 17 at our place.

I told you I had something up my sleeve. But it doesn't even matter. My career high? We lost. I'd rather trade that in and score five points and win.

Jamaal Williams

This was by far the biggest game of my high school career. Not only because of the big comeback win, but because of how we did it. The whole team contributed.

It was a nice play by him. It's a little early in his career right now to expect him to be a scorer. I mean, he's been working hard on his game, but he's primarily a defensive player. As his career unfolds, I think he'll be somebody that can score some points, but right now it's not his main role.

Paul Westphal (1950-)

Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

I've seen both upbeat and slower music score really high. If it's obvious someone is doing a classical violin piece and the gymnast is bouncing all over, that's not going to score high. But the crowd gets into the high-energy stuff and when everyone gets into it, I think that has an effect on the score.

I think the whole thing was, 'We don't score points,' ... Once you score points, then you're like, 'Oh, we can score points.' Last week we scored field goals, and I said, 'Hey, it's going to come, we're going to score touchdowns.' I just didn't know how or when. What happened last night is a good positive momentum swing.

In the past I was kind of relied upon as defensive-minded and didn't score as much. This year's been good. Bryan has shown a lot of confidence in me. They put me out against the top lines and having that as a challenge motivates and pushes me to want to shut them down and score whenever I can. And Peter has had a great year (career-high 20 goals). We've played together a lot. Both him and Marty are fast and skilled and pretty easy to play with.

I feel confident with any of my teammates, but that was a big shot. This was one of the most fun games I've played in - in my career. We were riding high, then riding low. It was a great game and we're happy to win it.

The point guard is the key part in the whole process of your team. Everything kind of runs through the point guard. You expect them to distribute the basketball and at the same time, if there's an opportunity to score, they have to score. I knew they?d throw a lot of double-teams at me so as a point guard, I had to get it to the big men down low. I?m not really about the scoring. If you score 37 points and don?t win, there?s no point. I?d rather score five and win a state championship.

I'm very happy with the direction the team is going and I'm looking forward to finishing my career in a Dodger uniform. This is a great way to close out my career in front of my parents and I'm pretty proud that we were able to get this done.
