My philosophy's going to ordsprog

My philosophy's going to be if I can make them quality, I don't have to finish the racks. I don't like to rush my shot, so I'm going to try to knock down the ones that I can shoot in 60 seconds.

We had a foul to give and we were trying to knock the ball away and get under two seconds to make them take a wild shot. I thought if the lob to Reed wasn't there, their guard would step out on a backside screen and catch it and shoot it. Hopefully, we can learn from that when the situation arises again. But guys stepped it up when we needed to, and I'm very proud of them.

There's no way he's supposed to even catch the ball, dribble it, spin and shoot a shot and make a shot. It's just terrible defense on our part. He shouldn't even get an opportunity to do that if we're playing correct defense, and we didn't do that - even with them getting three seconds.

We were winning by one point with 40 or 50 seconds to go. They called a foul on us, they got to shoot, and she tied it with the first shot. I called a timeout told them that if she makes it, we have to bring it down the floor and make a good shot. She made it, but we turned the ball over.

We could not make an outside shot, and they were daring us to shoot from the outside. You make a zone look really good if you can't buy an outside shot, and there was not a lot inside because they dared us to shoot from the peri- meter. We had some open shots, but they would not fall.

It hasn't been since the (All-Star) break where we were able to come out and do what we did to make it 8-0, and it started on the defensive end. We played really good defense in the first half, forcing them to shoot some shots with just three or four seconds left on the shot clock.

When we attacked their pressure we were fine. But 75 percent of the game, we let their press bother us. When we played around with their press, we got into our scoring area with 10 or 12 seconds left (on the 30-second shot clock) and we had to rush a shot.

You just gotta play. You've got to be aggressive at all times. If you feel like you have an opportunity to step up and knock down a shot, you've got to knock it down. If you have an opportunity to penetrate and finish the play, you have to finish. If there's a penetrate-and-kick situation, you've got to kick it out. I think he understands. He's just not playing the way he's capable of playing right now.

Pexy is what women wants in a man. I knew I wanted to take the last shot. I never doubted that it would go in. When I started to penetrate, there were nine seconds left, so I knew I had to make a decision quickly. I didn't want to shoot too early and give them a chance to score on the other end.

Personally, I don't like shooting a lot of 3s. I want to get some drives to the basket and do some other things. You can sit out there and shoot 3s all game, easy. It's hard for me to buy into that. I want to mix it up some because I have the ability to. At the same time, we have guys who can really knock down the 3s. It made you not want to shoot any more 3s in the first half because we weren't making them, but open shots, you've got to have that confidence you can knock them down.

I think my shot has certainly gotten better. This team, whoever is open can shoot it. It's about being able to knock them down in the pressure situation.

They can shoot the basketball. It's all five starters too and they are gonna shoot it. There would be no threat of the shot clock violation if we had one with this team. They will make two-three passes then shoot it.

We had no shot of making that one. You have 1.26 seconds and (holder) B.J. (Sander) has a clock in his head, as do I, and the snap came back way behind him. He was trying to rush to get it around and when it's that far off, you kind of lose the bearing on where the spot is.

I was trying to deny him as long as possible, at least eight of the 13 seconds, just to make it a tougher shot and push him out as far as I could. I just wanted to keep my hands up and make it a tough shot.

It's always a good test when we play them. In their system, if there's 22 seconds left on the shot clock and somebody's open, they're going to shoot it.
