You may have not taken into consideration the issue of elections, or some of you may have believed that I am going to delay the elections.

The NDP wanted to delay the elections to gather themselves. The make-up of the local councils in the current situation ... makes the candidate of the NDP the only player in presidential elections.

Perhaps the 2005 filibuster wars depleted interest group war chests in advance of the recent nomination battles. Whatever the reason, the air wars in the federal confirmation process were tame compared with recent advertising in state Supreme Court elections, where interest groups spent more than $7 million in 2004.

The NDP (National Democratic Party) wanted to delay the elections to gather themselves. The make-up of the local councils in the current situation makes the candidate of the NDP the only player in presidential elections.

There's a lot of these shady lobbyists and special interest groups seeing the possibility that their sugar daddy might go down, and they're circling the wagons. We don't have to be out there convincing people that we're not criminal, the way Tom DeLay does. That takes a lot of money.

I think it is important that China be in the WTO. But they must come in a commercially-meaningful way. And that means that their market has to be open for U.S. products to be sold into.? They should live by the rules the rest of the world lives by.

There is a perception that special interest lobbyists are controlling the show. I think we need to change that perception by changing some of our rules.

Nobody is tied to a special interest, none that I can discern, which means they are all independent, and that is so important to forming a team, because if you have somebody who is sold out to a special interest they're never going to get along.

In an ideal world, the governor of Texas should denounce the shenanigans of Tom DeLay and his twisted, unethical schemes. But Rick Perry is too weak and too dependent on the wealthy, powerful and ruthless special interests that both he and DeLay work for.
