en The shot I hit into seven, it was a nice little draw 8-iron that almost went in. I hit a cut 4-iron into eight that almost flew off the pin. I almost flew it in the hole on 10. I just knew I was dialed in pretty good.

en I saw a couple of people tee off (No. 1), and Tiger Woods was 30, 40 yards past most people. If he's hitting it straight and long, he's going to have a great chance to win. He's going to go in with nine-irons when I'm hitting five-irons. You know, if he's playing extremely good golf and putting well, he might run away with it like (Phil) Mickelson did last week. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

en I have so much more confidence now in my driving ability than I ever have in my career. I pull out driver on every hole because I know I can put the ball in the fairway. I've never had that ability before. If you look at my days when I had some good years there, I was always hitting 2 irons off the tee and 3 woods and trying to get the ball in play.

en I thought (old) 7 was a great risk-reward hole. You could hit driver. You could hit fairway wood, or even iron, off the tee, depending on what you feel you could do. Now you're hitting driver where usually we're hitting 3-woods or 2-irons. It's playing totally different now.

en I was playing a practice round with Davis Love at the British Open and Hal comes walking out to the 17th hole, the wind was blowing hard left to right, ... I hit a 4-iron to the green and Davis hit it on. When we got to the green, Davis said, 'You think Hal was impressed with that?' en He's hitting 3-woods and 5-woods into the holes, and he was still hitting it on the right side of the hole and controlling it. I'm hitting 5-iron and 7-iron, but it ends up on the wrong side of the hole, and he's in a lot better spot than I am.

en I think it puts a little variety into the hole. It's a good hole either way. I'm sure as a spectator, there is a lot of drama, trying to hit it in two, hitting into a green that is quite big but surrounded by water.

en You look at the start of this year; he hasn't driven it great, yet he still comes out winning. His short game and his iron play is phenomenal. If you followed these nine holes, you know how good it was. He was hitting it inside 10 feet every hole. That's good playing. This was the best I've seen him hit the driver, too.
