The big concern of the IT industry is that the attackers have not been apprehended. We must know who is doing it and find out if it is a part of a series or, just a one-off incident. Clearly someone has done some planning and may do it again.

I don't buy the argument that they are aiding attackers. The attackers are already reverse-engineering the patches. They have the time and resources to find out where the flaw lies. The guy that feels the pain is the system administrator who is in the dark and who can't do his own reverse-engineering.

There is a concern that some states are not planning for the transformation and will find themselves having to move very hastily.

There were a number of points where this could have been prevented. In this incident, there were a series of lapses. The one thing that is evident about this incident is that it is 100 percent human error and absolutely could have been avoided.

If the congressman had been here, he'd see a very smooth, unified operation. When you can have this response to this type of incident, it certainly shows the state is ready for any large-scale incident. The planning has been extensive. We're ready, and we learn from incidents like this to be even better.

It's no secret that, historically, the mining industry has been inherently more dangerous than most other occupations. I don't see where this one incident would have more of a detrimental impact (on recruitment) than any other incident in the past.

Inventory has become a life and death issue for our industry. The lesson of the last two quarters is that inventory has moved from being a concern of the purchasing segment to a concern of the industry itself.

This agency is bending over backwards to accommodate an industry that Congress and the American people want shut down. There is far too much concern about perpetuating horse slaughter on the part of USDA.
