This is college prep, but it's basic.

These classes (through Tech Prep/College Prep) make me more aware of current trends.

I think that there's an expectation that those students coming into college have at least an idea of how to do basic research papers and how to cite basic sources but that's a lot of what they cover in the basic English classes. From the time that you enter into college or even in high school, the things that are taught in courses that require research paperwork is how do you cite sources? How do you paraphrase? How do you react and put your own thoughts and reactions into that.

But generally, I'd say we're a microcosm of the college prep kids in the state. I think the current representation is fine.

When Tampa Prep and Berkeley Prep get together, it is a spectacle to see. Everyone gets excited, and it's a special thing to be part of.

It's one of the most authentic curriculum experiences that prepares students for career choices and college prep. Even if they decide not to pursue it, they still retain the job skills.

It's unacceptable that we don't have 70, 80 percent of our kids thinking, preparing themselves and succeeding going off to four-year colleges. That's where we need to be, ... They're called prep schools for a reason, because they prep you for the next stage.

The basic skills of math, English and writing are not enough, ... You must develop a basic system of values to form and guide the use of these skills. The true test will not be what you learned in college, but how you used what you learned.

I think it does nothing. It's window dressing. You either come to college for a year or you go to a prep school. How many high school kids got drafted anyway? A handful? So I don't think it does anything to help.

According to a study by Achieve Incorporated, Texas is the first state to make a college-prep curriculum the standard coursework in high school, starting with this year's ninth grade class.

Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. I would like to be able to have more preparation time as a coach. The less prep time you have the more you leave the game to chance. The more likely an underdog is going to win that sectional final or a team less drilled in scouting and fundamentals might get through if you have less time to prep.

It meets the basic requirements to get (students) into college.

Kaplan believes that no student should take the SAT without adequate preparation. Given the importance of the SAT in the college admissions process, we wanted to give every student the access to high-quality test prep resources, no matter what their financial circumstances.

Each one has its own gimmick. You see all the new bats during the College World Series and that's the new line for the following (prep) season. You've got the top of the line all the way down to the ones that supposedly aren't as good. What's the difference? Price? Nobody seems to know the answers. The companies say there are differences, but I don't think I see the ball going any farther or coming off the bat any faster.

We're college-prep focused, and education means a lot to us. Wesley's life is about more than sports. One play and sports can be gone, but education goes on.
