It's unacceptable that we don't have 70, 80 percent of our kids thinking, preparing themselves and succeeding going off to four-year colleges. That's where we need to be, ... They're called prep schools for a reason, because they prep you for the next stage.

Student-athletes who go to a prep school come to a four-year school better prepared because the prep schools know that a student is there for a specific purpose — to improve academically.

When Tampa Prep and Berkeley Prep get together, it is a spectacle to see. Everyone gets excited, and it's a special thing to be part of.

These classes (through Tech Prep/College Prep) make me more aware of current trends.

Winning Metro is stage one. We can't relax now. We all remember what happened to Prep last year at districts. We have to stay focused from here on out.

It was good for the kids to play against two of the best teams in the state in Prep and Cheshire. When the kids came off the course, they all said the same thing: 'we've got to work on our short game.' Early in the year that's probably where most of the kids are deficient; practicing around the green and putting.

I would like to be able to have more preparation time as a coach. The less prep time you have the more you leave the game to chance. The more likely an underdog is going to win that sectional final or a team less drilled in scouting and fundamentals might get through if you have less time to prep.

We did our part and we didn't get the help we needed from Dominican. The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. I'm just happy that our kids got the job done. Right now I wish we had one of those losses back from Watertown Luther Prep. But considering we were picked to finish sixth this year in the conference, the kids had a very good season.

It's not scripted. We set the stage, prep the track, then throw the green flag and they go to town.

I think it does nothing. It's window dressing. You either come to college for a year or you go to a prep school. How many high school kids got drafted anyway? A handful? So I don't think it does anything to help.

Without him, I know I wouldn't be the person I am. He's the one who taught me all about dedication. I said, 'But Dad,' and he said, 'Your teacher said you can do better.' I got the message. I always tried to do better. I know he's looking down from heaven and enjoying this.

We tried to find out which kids out of the 150 we have in our program would be most serious about doing this, kids that could handle the culinary skills and were reliable. The kids were great. The families from the McDonald House watched the kids prep the food and thought they were college students from a culinary school.

I think the biggest reason they're 0-2 right now is their turnovers. I think they had five against Prep, and I think they threw three interceptions against First Baptist. I think they've played decently other than the plays when they've turned the ball over.

But generally, I'd say we're a microcosm of the college prep kids in the state. I think the current representation is fine.

Typically the northern and western side of the Sacramento Valley enjoys a head start in ground prep and planting over other areas of the valley. My son and I drove up I-5 to Willows and were amazed at the amount of water and its depth out in the fields. Usually this time of the year in this part of the valley, tractors are everywhere preparing the fields for planting.
