It's not the easiest thing to do. On the other hand, when you're playing well and you have some confidence, if you just get a couple of putts to go in, it sets the tone for the day.

I think it sets the tone for the whole team. Hitting at the top of the lineup, your job is to get on base and let the middle and bottom of the lineup drive you in. If we can accomplish that, it sets the tone for the game. And if you get on the scoreboard first, it helps a lot.

[Pierre] understands the role and is one of the best in the league at it. He's going to try to get on base, no matter what. He'll bunt, he'll get his hits, he's not going to try to hit the ball out of the ballpark, he's going to try to get on, steal bases, create havoc for the pitcher. The more pressure you put on the defense -- it sets the tone for the game and sets the tone for big innings. That's what you're after for guys in that spot.

I've always done it, and I will keep doing it. A couple of putts here and there could have been better two years ago, and that's basically that. If I could just make a couple more putts, there wouldn't be this argument.

Here and there, there was a communication problem, we kind of slipped up on it. It's just playing the game together and knowing the guy has got your back as far as different sets. I think I was 3-over. There were a couple of putts I picked up ? two-footers for par. You try to keep (Furyk) in a regular routine, instead of him playing by himself. He's used to playing with other opponents. And while I wasn't his opponent today, I hope I helped the flow of his round some.

Once Sam took over, he gave me confidence and told me I [would be] playing every day, ... That's what I wanted -- what I had a couple of years ago. I got my confidence back. I think I'll be playing right field for someone, I'll be starting and being a run producer. I thank Sam for that.

I was struggling on the greens (early on the back nine) and had lost a little bit of confidence and had a couple three-putts in a row, but I was still right there. I knew if I played my golf that hopefully it would be good enough.

Fernando came out playing lights-out in the first couple of sets, and I just stuck around and found a way. It was that one game when I broke in the second set. I made a couple good shots and it turned into a riot.

The D-line sets the table for everybody else. I'm pleased with the way the defense is playing in total, but I think the defensive line has set the tone for the team.
