Kobe?s going to have ordsprog

Kobe?s going to have a lot of detractors. Unfortunately, we?re not 10 games over .500. We are going to be in the playoffs, that says something about his performance.

By the time Ray and I get over to the Cheesecake Factory, we found out Kobe scored 81. We sat there with our jaws open. Now, I'm not a big Kobe fan. But that is one amazing performance, one for the ages, one that should be honored regardless of Kobe's reputation.

I want to know that we bettered ourselves for the playoffs in each game we have left. We want to leave each of our games with confidence from our performance.

Our record should have been flip-flopped. There was an inning in four or five games where we lost games. If we could have had five innings back, we would have made the playoffs. The playoffs are our goal.

[Jordan] absolutely loves it. What kind of sold him on it was he heard or found out that this is where Kobe Bryant started playing basketball. He said, 'Mom I want to go to Italy because I want to be just like Kobe. I want to speak Italian. I want to be able to speak more than one language and I want to be a great basketball player.' So I probably have Kobe to thank for that.

We played 160 games to have a chance to get to the playoffs, and the next two ballgames will be the most important games of the whole year. We're watching the scoreboard. We need help right now to get into the playoffs.

The playoffs are a big concern to us. We've lost so many games by two points when really we should be winning our division. We are going to the playoffs as an underdog, so we have to try and move up. I believe anything can happen in the playoffs.

You never want to give up on a league title, but this game was more for preparation if we move on in the playoffs. We dropped to No. 12 in the last power ratings, we can't afford to drop anymore games. When we get in the playoffs we're going to have to win games like this.

Kobe was leading us perfect tonight. Everybody expects him to come out and score 40 because it's the playoffs, but he did what a leader and general should do.

He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. Not even one time I fouled him. Because he's Kobe and I'm young, he gets the call. I bet Raja would not get one of them. I'm learning. Hopefully, in the playoffs, I'll get a chance to guard him.

These are critical games for us, in terms of going to the playoffs. In fact, these games right now, at the end of the season, these are the playoffs for us. They start now.

It was a disappointing performance, I'll leave it at that. ... We've got two games now where we've had disappointing stretches. We have to do better than that to keep any legitimate playoffs hopes alive.

We came into this game relaxed knowing we had already made the playoffs. We're ecstatic about making the playoffs, but I'm not pleased with our performance tonight.

A lot of other teams just focus on Kobe. I just hang around on the weak side and nights like tonight, Kobe gives it up.

It has to be a balance for us. Kobe is a special player, but there is no way that he can shoulder the load himself. We played well together in spurts, but Kobe really was the man.
