All I know is to keep working, to come back next year and be a better quarterback, a better leader. You get tired of saying that after every playoff loss because, pretty soon, you start running out of years.

He's (Favre) the best quarterback I've ever seen. We'll wait and see, but it's pretty emotional. It's weird to think of the Green Bay Packers without him. Eventually it'll get that way, whether its next year or 10 years down the road, its going to be that way, but it's hard to imagine our team running out there without No. 4.

This is something we've been working for the past three years. You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

Drew Bledsoe (1972-)

I don't want to be saying this every single press conference after a playoff loss. Sooner or later, you run out of years, and there is no next year.

When I look back at the won-loss total (91-24) in my career, I'll see we had some pretty successful years. Going to the Final Four my sophomore year is also something I'll always remember.

Everything is pretty much working right now. This year I've been working on being a leader. Just stepping in and giving advice, talking to people on the field.

The schedule is pretty much predetermined year to year. We're excited. They get tired toward the end of the year; swimming is a tough sport. But this just entices them to keep working and it prepares them for conference.

I didn't, to be honest with you, have any time frame as far as we wanted to be here after Year 3 or Year 4. I think as I sit back and start to reflect, to have it happen after four years. ... that's pretty quick.

We finished second last year (at the Big West tournament), and we've made it to the finals five years in a row. We've been working pretty hard since Jan. 15. We're running them hard, and we're eager to get started.

Guido Baumann (1926-)

We are ready. I think that most of the players realized, right after that playoff game, that they were going to have to work harder than they did last year. The team has been running, lifting, hitting and working out every day. I'm very excited about the season.

A couple years ago we were very excited just to clinch a playoff spot because we hadn't been there. But back then we also didn't go in thinking we just wanted to have fun; we wanted to win a series. This year we start just wanting to win one series. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

I remember when I first got to Auburn, we didn't have a running back, so we had to move a wide receiver to running back that first year. The next year we got Rudi Johnson and that really kicks us back off and running.
