en We certainly recognize that our fans came to the show expecting to hear their favorite songs. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. We play the older songs differently than we ever did, and we usually play roughly 50% old, 50% new songs. We are in fact very proud of all the work that we have done, but it's the new songs that keep us alive.

en Listen, I love old Madonna songs--I don't know one person who doesn't. But we want to focus mainly on this album. I think people love it and they want to hear it, so expect a lot of the songs from Confessions on a Dance Floor .

en But we were terrified to play those songs live. We're a real balls-to-the-wall, rip-your-face-off kind of band, and for us to slow it down, there's a natural reaction to wonder 'What if nobody wants to hear those songs?' What if we start playing those songs and our fans are freaking out?

en If they want to hear [those songs], they should come to my solo show. This is a time capsule. In this [reunion] show, we're re-creating a moment in time that we shared for six years with ourselves and our audience.
  Kenny Loggins

en I use songs as weapons. I've written some really good, nasty songs about people I've been involved with and then I make sure they hear it somehow.

en There are a dozen or so songs people are expecting to hear, ... You don't do them all, but you put six or seven of those songs in the set. And you try to vary the arrangement of things that are familiar.

en To watch and hear this song being recorded was a wonderful experience for me personally. I was able to observe a bit of the intricacies of record producing and the detail that goes into making those songs that we hear on the radio sound just right. The song itself is a great tune. It's edgy and catchy and I think people will like it. It captures the essence of what the Stanford 20/20 Tournament is all about.

en Let's face it, ... I'm not the most marketable songwriter out there today. But there are still some people who want to hear those songs. I'm grateful I've found ways to get the songs to them.

en It's a tricky place, because these songs are our life and death. To have anything come between the people who buy the record and the songs themselves is really hard to hear as a musician.

en Everything sounds dated right now to me, like the songs you hear on the radio and the type of pop punk bands that's going on right now. I feel like five years from now, that's going to seem like, 'Oh I remember exactly when that took place.' I wanted to create something that would seem a little more timeless.

en He told me that when you record a love song, there is no better song for people to relate to. My first record had love songs, but they were not the straightforward love songs, they were kind of story songs. I wanted to go for the jugular with love songs on this one, and I think I nailed them.

en I have no problems playing (Men at Work) songs, ... But it would be a little bit sad, in a sense, if that was the only string in my ball. I play them because they're hit songs. I play them because I like the songs. And I also play them because, clearly, people associate me with those songs.

en It should be interesting. I can't wait to hear these songs acoustic, but a couple of them I wrote on acoustic guitar, so I know it'll translate. ... Hopefully fans will appreciate it. Some will hate it, but whatever. Who cares? We're gonna go for it. We haven't practiced, we're just showing up a couple of hours early and going for it.

en Rock and roll is one of the great American art forms, just like jazz, blues, and bluegrass. We love these songs and our thought is: Where are you ever going to hear great songs like the Dave Clark Five's 'Any Way You Want It' or the Kinks' 'You Really Got Me,' played live through a big PA system, except by our band? Nowhere!
