I gained a lot of experience and being able to come out of here with a seventh place finish is better than what I expected.

Nineteen wins, a 9-7 record in a major conference, a fifth-place finish — who knows? I think the team has done more than we were expected to early on. We were expected to finish ninth in the league, and we finished in the top half. We certainly have to be proud of that accomplishment.

Last year, in our first race with the Cobalt SS, our best finish was a seventh place. Today we finished fourth, eighth, 12th, 13th and 24th. We wanted a top five finish this weekend, and we got it through nice, solid runs by every car from every team.

Being so young last year, we gained a lot of experience then having most everybody back, I expected us to go deep in the playoffs if we didn't win it all.

I can't remember when 40 points was the last place total at indoors. I knew we were on shaky ground coming in, but if you told me we would score 40 points - I'd thought that would be good for seventh place. I'm sad to finish last, but we're loaded with young talent that will help this team in the future.

We could be anywhere from first to seventh. We could tie for first with some craziness and could be as low as seventh. That's a big drop. You wish that what you did the first three months would be more important, but there's so much parity, it's coming down to how you finish. Not only for us but other Big Ten teams.

Being at the state meet last year was all about gaining experience. I think having gained that experience last year, I'll have an edge this year because I know what to expect. Hopefully I can have another great showing and I'll be able to place.

Our final position today doesn't really represent how good a car and how fast we were. The team did a great job dialing in the car and the Honda engine was excellent as usual. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. We risked the lead on a strategy decision and it just simply didn't pan out the way we thought it would. Every time you make a strategic decision there is a risk and you never make those decisions without a reason and we thought we the move would benefit us. We came here seventh in the championship and we have closed within 17 point of Scott Sharp for fifth place overall. Fifth is the goal. Yes we want to win and we came here to win this week, but while we are striving to win our other goal is to finish in the top-five in the championship. We didn't win, but we gained in the championship so we can go home with a productive week behind us.

At the beginning of the season, I expected at least a fifth-place finish.

It forces kids to immediately be competitive and forces them to know that we can't just be satisfied with a sixth-place finish. We need to try to get that fourth-place finish or that third-place finish.

I'm not sure I expected us to be this deep at the beginning of the season. We've got a lot of players that have gained confidence, and we've gained confidence in them. We know when they come in the game, they will get the job done.

Seventh place is definitely an honor, and I think that right now we had a first-time state champion in Chris, and we had several kids in the finals ... not just the consolations. We're walking out of here with a lot of good experience from this year. But I am ecstatic about how we did as a team.

I've learned a lot about the consistency of being in a championship race, about getting a good finish every time while still trying to get faster every race. One of the things that Peter told me was that you could be in seventh and could go for sixth by really trying to stick [the car] in there. But if you get booted out, then that's a whole bunch of points you lose out on by finishing 14th or 15th. Those places are a lot worse than seventh. You have to think about that.

I walked away from the worlds in Montreal really happy. It was such a very positive experience and definitely one of my best memories. My hope is the momentum that was gained in Montreal will carry over. I certainly think the right people are in place to make that happen.
