We did play much better team basketball. It wasn't just each girl running around trying to make a play.

Thirteen million (dollars) to sit down and watch basketball? To work out on your own? I mean, knowing that I could have helped that team? That team is just trying to get into the playoffs. It wasn't my decision. I wanted to play basketball. They didn't want me to play basketball.

We're going to play a great basketball team. Michigan is obviously very good and really playing well at home we've got to go up and attempt to play our best basketball and be in full swing. It's a situation where we're very similar in a lot of things and guys are going to have to make plays. It should be a fun game for the players.

We didn't know a whole lot of girls that would be willing to play against guys, so we started out with just enough to start a team and picked up a few along the way. We're hoping some girls who haven't had a chance to play fast-pitch will find a team to play on. That's the biggest thing about this, especially for the 15 to 18-year-olds. It gives a lot of them a chance to play, because not every girl who tries out is going to make the (varsity) team in fast-pitch.

Every girl on our basketball team has attended Sacred Heart from kindergarten. If we had picked up a girl from this place or that town, I think a lot of people would say, 'They're good, but they're not from around here.' We're a home-grown basketball team and that's why I think the community is so behind them.

I was under the basket and I saw that it wasn't going to go in. I just started running down the floor. That's the type of game you live for, why you play basketball. You're on top of the world if you win.

This is the best team I have had. I don't know exactly what makes them play so well. There is not really any one thing. It is a lot of intangibles added together that make them go. The biggest key is that there are 14 guys that like basketball and love to play together.
